Hi Rich,
The Moss Motors replacement belt is :
Have Moss Motors 460-990; Flennor AVX10 X 900LA. It says made in Germany.

I am guessing you can use the number to cross reference something of the same size at your local auto parts store.

Mine came from Moss with their alternator. I looked and there isn't a size on it.

From my ancient records, I'd give good odds that it is NAPA 09033, which is 36-1/4" for the standard generator. That would be 920-mm (92-cm). If you get it a little too short you may have to dismount the generator to get the belt on. This is s little tricky though, because there were two different generator pulleys for pushrod engines, and two different pulleys for Twin Cam engines, making (I think) four different belt lengths that were standard. There is an CSM on this: http://MGAguru.com/mgtech/care/csm/mg205.pdf

Look in the SPL's for the change points and applicable part numbers for the belts.

Belts are generally easy. Run a tape measure around the outside of the pulleys, and it should be within 1-cm of the correct length.

Dear Rich and all other MGA Owners,

To set the record straight, with NO guessing, the original MGA 1500 & 1600 & Mk2 engines (not Twin Cams) had 9.5x900 belts fitted.
Same size as the old VW Beetles, not the modern ones. Currently this size has been changed to 10 x 900 ( a little wider belt) but same length. Possibly this belt is not readily available at parts store, so something close has been obtained.

We just had these specially made with 'MOWOG' printed on the belts with the 10 x 900 size printed on them as well.

Regards,
Cecelia
