Jon, if the rebuilder builds the LT77 right with the right parts they will hold up! I have rebuilt & run with the 77 box for over 35 years, in my MG & I put a LOT of hard miles on my V8 MGs, pulling other MGs & a small trailer. I have over 300,000 miles on the 1980 SD1 LT77 trans in my GT & it is like the day I put it in my GT. The 77 box did not have a filter/screen on the pick up tube & the filings & trash in the oil eat up the oil pump. There is a Jag. copy of the LT77 trans & it has a screen on the pick up tube & I am adding a screen on my rebuilds. FWIW

Or go with the LT77 replacement, the R380.
