I am in a situation where I can’t proceed with my planned 5 speed conversion into my M G A, the car is still together and running, and I wish to keep it that way until I decide to do it but to order the conversion kit I need to know what components are installed now, my engine is an 18 GB 5 bearing and the gearbox is a standard MGA box 3 speed.
the backing plate model is unknown to me but I do know that the starter motor is fitted high and sits real close to the distributor maybe that identifies it, I also don’t know what fly wheel or clutch is in place as all this was already done when I purchased the car, what I would like to know is there an answer to this like for instance if you have 18GB coupled to a MGA 3 speed then “ this is what you would have”
Anyone here can help me on this.

Thanks
George

If you have a 5-maim engine and the MGA gearbox, then it has to have a flywheel in it from a 65-67 5-main MGB engine as that's what it takes to do it.
Which 5-speed are you going to use?
