In an effort to minimize the number of times that the engine goes in and back out, Can anyone tell me a measurement for the engine frame mount position for a 1986 Ford 5.0 litre going into a 1975 B. Thanks

I am going to go out on a limb here, and I may be completely off base, but from my experience with engine swaps that number is not going to be the same between any 2 cars... There are way too many variables that come into play to say 'put them here'. I think the best you can get is maybe a general area in which the mounts will end up, but to get them in the right place there is really no other way than to put the engine in the hole and get the precise location.

Disclaimer: I have not been involved in this specific swap (5.0 into B), so maybe it is actually that simple...

I don't understand. Are you not going to use the mounting plates on the frame? I'm aware that often folks fitting non BOPR V8s fabricate a mounting point on the subframe in a similar position FastCars does on their FE for those fitting Ford etc; is that your intent?

I'd suggest getting in touch next door with Martin Harvey in Waterloo - he has done a sbf conversion with the OEM mounts (having taken notes from my conversion)

The problematic area is the driver side steering shaft but there are ways to deal with that!
Here's an old shot of my rhs mount.
