"The Green Weenie"

Saw an ad on Craigslist. 84 Vette, new paint, tires, wheels, interior, ran good when parked.
Yeah, right.
Take the "B" down the coast just for the heckovit, and look. It is as advertised. New battery, no nothing. No headlights, dash lights, interior, nada.
Buy it for full price, $1700 American dollars.
Take home, clean battery cables, replace side mount battery bolt, charge battery, start it up.
I swear to all that's holy. It ain't free, but dern close!

Future plans - drive it. Fix it. Drive it. Repeat as needed.

It keeps on running. Had it for a few months now, and nothing major is broke. Blows a little oil smoke on a warm restart, but hey, that's valve guides. Oil pressure is 60 at idle hot. Gets about 22 MPG on the highway, if you aren't being totally juvenile with the throttle. Less if you are!

It's a different creature than we are used to, but it's going to stay around as long as it doesn't cause me any grief. (And it does look kind of cool!)

Sold! Had my fun and passed it on. There may be another one in the future, I really didn't mind this one. It just took too much attention to keep it right now.

I bought a red 84 in 1985, drove it about 150K miles in 6 years then sold it. I could get
26 mpg with OD cruising at 75 mph. I owned a lawn care company at that time thus the
nick name "lawnvett", Had to drop the e for the vanity plate.

So, did you do the unusual upholstery job on the Vette, or did it come with that? So you sold it? (last entry on journal) Fun little piece of writing--you got a lot of good stories out of it, LOL!

Nancy, I didn't do a thing to it. What you see is what I got. I
didn't like the car because it leaked, which is a very bad thing in
Oregon. So I traded it to a guy for a bunch of work around my house
and two years worth of firewood. Which is a lot of wood out here. He
loves the car and has taken great care of it. I still see it now and
then.
