1967 MG MGB GT

"Ford 5.0 / T5 Powered!"
I bought this car to flip on my birthday last year, got it running and fell in love. I don't think I can let it go now. The wife is still pissed. Ha!

Brief history of the car: It was purchased new in in late '66 possibly early '67 by a UT professor from Austin Imports. I believe they might still be in business but I haven't researched it. The original owner was Professor Greer. He did a few performance modifications to it dating back to 1969. It has probably one of the first renditions of a tube shock conversion ever, on the rear of the car, using Koni fully adjustable shocks. The shocks are still working great and I leave them 1 turn out from "full competition mode" as the 1969 Koni instructions state. The car has a cam in it, I installed a side exit exhaust system and polyurethane bushings. It may not be the prettiest, but i'm not afraid to run it against other sports car down our windy backroads. :)

In 1995 Professor Greer passed away and left the car to a student he had befriended. I thank Brian for keeping the car in his garage all these years and selling it to me with the promise that i'd take care of it and get it back to tearing up the roads around Austin like it did back in it's hey day in the late 60's.

I try to keep my modifications to the car period looking and ask myself... "is this the way Greer would've done it if he was still alive?".

It sounds cheesy, but I would want someone to take care of my cars the way I would have wanted when I die. It just so happens that the deceased and I seem to have similar tastes in modifications. I'm not going to drill holes in the hood for the 1969 date coded chrome hood pins though. I don't think he wanted to either... they're still in the package!

A good aluminum hood is hard to find anyway.

If you've read this far, I commend you.

-Chris

Nice looking 'B, Chris! I'm just a bit to the east in Round Rock. Mine is a '79 rubber bumber roadster, vermillion. Here's hoping our paths cross on those back roads before too long!
