I had a 93 YJ for years, pretty much industructable. Kinda of crude, but kinda fun too.
They get really bad gas milage though (13-16 mpg).
good luck.

It has the more desireable external slave cylinder. The engine is pretty tough. Does it have power steering? That didn't become standard until 97. It is the last year for the leaf springs.(no 96 redesign for 97) Very easy to work on. I see tow bar attachments on the front...it may have been towed behind a motorhome.(easy miles)

Just checked the ad. Its got power steering.

I didn't know what those attachments up front were.
I've never had an RV to flat tow a car around with.
Maybe I could rent it out to my dad he towed around his civic behind his but recently left it in Park... then again maybe I shouldn't.

Check frame for rust, 1st by the steering box on the inside of the frame 2nd where the rear spring shackles. The drive train is bullet proof.

Very low rust levels. Nothing worth noting.
You can tell this jeep was somebody's baby, not toy

Because the 4 cylinder won't handle big tires very well!!!! I wouldn't buy a 4 cylinder personally.

This is my TJ which I love but it is noisy, rides horrible and gets horrible MPG. 4 inch lift with 33s

My son has a 92 YJ 2.5/5speed LSD, BDS 4 1/2 lift w/33/12.50X15. Does not have much top speed but its a tank off road mud, sand its unstoppable. Gas mileage well BAD, comfort better have your belts real tight.

The biggest I plan to go us 31's maybe 32's

Not looking to do any big lifts on it or dump the bank into it.
If I got with bigger tires I'll regear and do a few mods I found on a jeep forum that claims 50hp and 50 ft/lbs torque.

First though I'm getting a roll bar tie in kit.
Polyurathane throughout
Tied together shackles (helps stability on road)
High flow intake.

If I were you, I would put a 2.5" lift on it. That would take care of the bad springs. It will clear 31" tires with no rubbing. I would never regear and lock the Dana 35 rear. It will break with a locker and 31's. You can swap in a 95 up Explorer rear and do the gears in it. The front axle(high pinion 30) will hold up better. It has the larger u-joints since it is post 1994. The CAD(central axle disconnect) is a little suspect.(vacuum operated) If you put a full time locker or limited slip in the front it will cause your front driveshaft to spin all the time. It will cause vibration.(unless you put a 97-up front yoke and a double cardan driveshaft.

Feel free to PM for specific questions. I know 87-2006 Jeeps like the back of my hand.

Well I've had this for a good while now and here are the only problems I've had so far.

1. All the gauges died. Easy fix. Just had a lose fuse box.
2. vaccume leaks. Got a few fixed but need new hoses on a few.
3. I'm starting to really notice how trac bars and leaf springs don't get along on bumpy corners.
4. Has one exhaust leak and some PO broke the stud on the head and placed it in so it was just there. (Maybe half a thread holding it in)

Not really looking forward the that fix. I hate pulling busted exhaust studs.
