Turbocharging a Midget

Hey guys what do you think about a turbo?
if you were to change pistons rods and knock off the duration off the can lobes for fuel injection alittle ignition work these things should haul ass There is plenty of room under the manifold and an FI system off a turbo VW or BMW or toyota, Nissan should work great! I have done a little work in this area (Turbo magazine 1887 SEP Worlds fasted Ferrari)I think it would be fun I personally think that superchargers rob as much as they produce and sre as hard to install if done right

Been did, but mostly on Minis, even by the factory.
Wouldn't need to change pistons, especially on late 1275 engines; they're only 8:1 already. And the cam is not much.

I didn't did it.
I gave you enough info to suggest that it HAS been done, multiple times in many ways to many levels, and that Mini and Spridget boards might be the place to ask.
First reference I recall was c1985, a Mini with something like 300hp.
Thought about doing it to my America, but I was too busy, too poor, and in any event was always at illegal speeds with my homegrown Cooper S spec.
Go dig!

One of the magazines (probably R&T or C&D) did one back in the 70s as I recall. They compared the acceleration to a V12 E-Type. Never saw a follow up article. I'm guessing it didn't last too long grinning smiley

Megasquirt 1500 Midget. Of course could adapt design for older midgets.

If rebuilding motor I would install forged pistons.
I have a 2.3 89 2.3 turbo Mustang I built. Wife's daily driver. Maurice
