I am looking for a toyota, probably a corolla, but could be others that has a 2tc engine. Toyota used the 2tc from 75-79 as far as I can tell. I want to salvage the engine and trans for a coupe project.(MGA) [/b][/b]

the TC was the 1600 pushrod hemi head....right?

I'd love to have one of the earlier cars, 68-70, with the 2KC or 3KC engine (1100-1200). Keeping an eye out for a later starlet that is intact and affordable.

1973 Roadster. A nice 50-footer!

Problem is I expect, (well certainly over here) you will now have to pay "collectors" prices on 70s Toyotas.

One part of the collector car market that is now gaining interest and prices are rising.

Even Datsun B210's are gaining value. There's one in a nearby alley that I keep going back and looking at.

Here's a photo of one on my "so many cars, so little time" list.

"Now the problem you have is that when you have the unerring certainty of machinery, it is a machine. When something has foibles, it won’t handle properly, that gives it a particularly human quality because it makes mistakes. And that’s how you can build a relationship with a car that other people won’t get."

I used to race with a 2TC powered Brabham. Great engine. Also the 3TC is the 1.8 version of the 2TC, found in later Corollas.smileys with beer

In the mid nineties I drove an early Toyota Tercel from England all the way to the South of France and back (including through the Alps)without even a cough from the engine and so many scoffed at the idea!
"Yer not taking that old thing are you"? I hold alot of respect for Toyotas.

How hard would it be to get sheet metal for one?

With best regards

I remember working on a few 2TC and 3TC engines back in the day. The Corolla with the 5 speed tranny was a hot little car. Weren't they called an SR5 Corolla, before they started using the SR5 designation for the PU trucks?

Rod, I believe the SR5 was the sport version of the model. I had the plain Corolla, with the 1.8 liter engine, and a 5 speed. If I had the SR5, there would have been a few cosmetic upgrades.

TRD is the upgrade designation you want !! (Toyota Racing Development)

I had a 76 Celica (Beige) fastback but it didn't have those type bumpers.....Saw a 76/77 Celica (French license plates) in a Bath UK parking garage that had those early Celica style bumpers on it.............

Nice paint job!!!!!
