Moss just received shipment of a high quality reproduction of the factory replacement plastic cooling fan for the MGA and early MGBs.

This fan has not been available since the mid 80s and offers improved air flow and no more worries about fan failure due to metal fatigue.

Very nice Kelvin. I take it this will fit on my 66 model B's, with an original water pump pulley, and requiring no further additions or alterations? Just a straight bolt on?

If so I'm ordering even though it is pricey. But, I understand the cost of manufacturing the new part is not inexpensive. Good job!

Thanks Dan.

The price is what it is to cover the development cost and minimum production run. It's expensive to manufacture a product like this.

Not to mention the many hours of installation and testing time working with prototypes.

It still is comparable in price to a fan for a Ford Mustang

Kelvin,

Any spacers needed, or can I just bolt it directly to my 18GB water pump pulley like the original 3 bladed fan?

I'm hoping it will bolt right up. If so, my 66 Roadster and GT will have one.

Nice part, Kelvin.

Is this planned to be a limited production run, or is it one of those things where production will continue if sales remain at reasonable levels?

Dan.

No spacers needed, it's a direct bolt on for the early cars with the long water pump, or the MGA. The offset is the same as the original steel blade.

As always, check for clearance before cranking. The fan blades do move slightly forward at high revs, so make sure there is clearance. If necessary, the radiator can be moved slightly forward using additional packing pieces.

Ben.

This should remain in production. The only reason the 73-76 fan dropped out of availability for a while was because the tooling was damaged.

application limited to the early car?

Mine is a mongrel CB with some 69 pieces, some 71, and some 73. I am now using a long nose pump with metal fan but also have short nose pump as well (with the right pulleys) planning to install a 13" flexi-fan.

The new fan is a direct replacement for the 7 blade steel fan. If you are using the long nose water pump, then this is the fan to go with it.

Kelvin,

I have an old (original) version of this fan, a bit beat up but intact (I don't intend to install it). It won't bolt up to most of the used pumps I could find in my pile. Has a different, smaller, bolt circle and also different center boss diameter, smaller.

I have a long nose pump on the car right now with a 4 blade steel fan on it. Can't quickly check this guy w/o taking off the 4-blade but IIRC this pump has two bolt circles on it. question is the center boss diameter.

Assuming it fits, would one of these (new) ones "pump as much air" as a 13" flexi-fan?

This is my intended replacement of what I have in there now with a short pump after I get their adapter (to fit MG boss to their GM-type boss. this combo, short pump and flexi fan 13" with a 1" spacer/adapter puts fan about 1" from the rad.

I had a flexi fan fiberglass fan on it when I got the car 22 years ago but the fan was cracked in many places and I could find no replacement for it. Might still have it in one pile or another (never throw anything away, you might need it come day!)

This fan fits the long nose water pump originally fitted to 1965 - 1972 cars. It has the larger bolt pattern as used on the matching pulleys used on these years.

The center hole of the water pumps should not change, but I've seen a lot of variance between aftermarket manufacturers.

I have no way of comparing airflow between the flexi fan and this one. The only thing I can offer is that the original design work was done by British Leyland to suit the B engine.
