EF- You have a PM in your inbox with 3 different options including the Borg and Beck clutch kit. The big retailers charge 32% more than my price :-) Thanks. Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams@yahoo.com

Absolutely. The dual master without the brake booster is available in both an aftermarket unit for under $100 (the big retailers get $169.95. I can also get a new TRW unit made in the UK for under $150. I'll PM exact prices and contact info. Thanks. Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams@yahoo.com

It's time to refresh the rear brakes on my 71 MGB Tourer. Can you give me a price for the shoes, wheel cylinders and all the ancillary hardware to do the complete refresh? Not sure if I need the drums but would like the price just in case.

I just refreshed my rear brakes, minus the adjusters (they were fine). I ordered through octagon motors in vancouver british columbia canada. They shipped across canada in two days; total cost was 140$ canadian pesos

Check all the usual suspects, I know I saw a very low price on all but the drums recently, like in the $60 range, I paid $100 a couple years back. Moss and TRF are advertising sales, but check a few more if you are looking to save. Sure the vendors here can help out as well, if it came down to a few bucks and patronizing them, -- I would go with them.

Drums are generally pretty good from what I hear, any vibration in the pedal? I don't sweat minor scoring in drums, like 1 or 2 mm? if they are round. If you have gone metal to metal, that is another situation, pull your drums and give a look.

Look up John Twist Video. LUJTV, may as well make up a shorter way of saying it. ;-)

Probably save $20 if you rebuilt the cylinders. It would be neat if you find the hold down/ anti chatter tool that saves about a half hour, and if you can find C clips that fit and may be easier to get on.

Get some lubriplate to go over the adjusters and the parking brake linkage joint.

Regards, John

Ric, The kit for rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, springs and hold downs is $66 plus shipping. That includes the Italian AP wheel cylinders - not the Asian stuff. Thanks for asking. Let me know if I can help. Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams@yahoo.com
