We had such a great time meeting everyone on the MA / RI Coastal MG Tour, let's get together again!smileys with beer

To steal from Monty Python, "And now for something completely diffferent."smiling smiley

Father's Day, June 17, 2012 is the annual antique auto show on the grounds of the Portsmouth Abbey School right on Narragansett Bay in Portsmouth, RI. While I realize there are a plethora of Father's Day car shows, including the 2nd annual Bershire British Motorcar Festival in Lenox, MA, Father's Day at Portsmouth Abbey is one of the oldest car shows in the region (this year being the 56th annual event). And it always draws such a large contigent of British automobiles that they have a British only classthumbs up (in addition to the Bentley/Rolls Royce class and the generic non-British, Foreign class).

If you're coming from the east, we'll meet up, drive the back roads, stop at Coastal Roasters in Tiverton, then cross the Sakonnett River Bridge (more details to follow as the time nears). Perhaps those coming through Bristol and over Mt Hope Bridge, as well as those coming over the Newport / Jamestown Bridges and through Newport can arrange meet ups too!cool smiley

I know that Dave (RIRaven) is in, how about everyone else!

Also, if anyone is interested, the St. Columba's Cricket Club is holding a match (35 overs) nearby in Middletown against the URI Cricket Club that day. We can stop by after the show if anyone wants to continue their British experience. If you're not familiar with cricket, I guarantee you won’t understand it!confused smiley But wicket-keeper, Chuck Zalewski (the only U.S. born player on the team), should be there to enthusiasticly explain it to anyone with the interest (and patience) to learn.

Cheers,

Rick

Justa quick update, looks like we'll have at least 6 MGE members attending the 56th Annual Newport Motorcar Festival on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Portsmouth Abbey on Cory's Lane in Portsmouth, RI. There will probably be even more of us, but at least Dave (RIRaven), Jim (jdevol), Frank (fmotta14), Greg (gmottamgdriver), Joe (jsabatino), and myself (oldredsel) should be there.

Dave and myself will be meeting in the morning to drive over via the Sakonnet River Bridge, and Jim will be heading over the Mt. Hope Bridge. PM us if you want to join up!cool smiley

Cheers,

Rick

Hi, Everybody-

Rick Crosby (oldredsel)gave me a call and asked that I post this since his computer has met with an untimely demise and he has temporarily lost access to MGE!

The registration for the Portsmouth Abbey show on Sunday starts at 9AM, and the show runs until 2PM.

Rick and I will be meeting for breakfast at one of New England's better breakfast joints, The Barn in Adamsville,RI, at 8AM and leaving from there at 9AM to make the twenty minute drive to Portsmouth Abbey. We hope to be joined by the Mottas who have to drive past The Barn to go to the Abbey, and we certainly would encourage anyone else who would like to join us either for breakfast or just the ride. Google the barn adamsville ri for directions.
