Anyone traveling on to SF from Reno Friday the 17th? Anyone interested in an approx 2 hr side jaunt for a loop of the Napa Valley and perhaps a spot of lunch? If interested I can arrange to lead a tour of my favorite area. (Napa Valley is aproximately 3-3 1/2 hrs from Reno. About an hour puts you into SF from Napa.

My plan is to head out of Albany, NY (Malta, specifically) after work on Thursday, June 2nd, and get down to Northeastern New Jersey Thursday evening. I'll then drive down the New Jersey coast Friday and take an afternoon ferry from Cape May. That should put me into Salisbury around 5 or so.

I don't know what the (RALLYE) planned to do on way to San Fran, but this sounds like a good drive. Is there another plan in progress, or can those who are going on, plan for this?

Jim,

I wish Connie and I had more time cause I would take you up on your offer.
We both have been out to the Napa area, the last time was for MG 2007, and it is one of our favorites.

We are going to be heading North to the Ellensberg area of Washington on Friday morning to stay with some friends.

Regarding the 'official' plans: Other than driving the final part of US50 from Carson City to Sacramento, there was a refreshment and picture stop on Treasure Island put together by the MG Owners Club. On Saturday morning there is a tour of San Francisco.

Driving through Napa sounds like a good plan also. Side trips and doing your own thing are not just allowed on the Rallye, they're encouraged.

OD internals are waiting on the bench for the new filters, o-rings, washers and each day has me checking e-mail to see if they have been shipped. So while the car is up on the stands the may-as-wells have set in and I have pulled the calipers and cleaned-up and lubed the pistons (even though they were just fine as they were), and I've pulled the passenger seat out to see if I can get the recline mechanism to work and get some of the tilt off the seat. If those parts don't show up soon I might find that I have got so much of the car disassembled while waiting that I won't be able to launch in time for the Rallye.

Jim:

My original idea was to spend a few days driving up the coast and going through Napa Valley after the Rallye to Reno was over. Then reality set in. Not really enough time, and I think we might me ready for a break from driving. So, your idea of a drive for the day is absolutely great. We would love to go for the ride.

As for the Cape May Lewes Ferry, been on that too many times to count. Had the lead spot on the ferry going up to NJ in the mid 90's with the Midget. It looked lost on the ferry. It is my intension to bring the B back up to NJ after the trip, with a ferry ride of course.

Look forward to meeting you.

David

Well, I got the email from Bruce Woodson the other day concerning the "package" with the Rallye to Reno goodies inside.
I punched in the USPS tracking number and entered it on my iPhone USPS app.

The package has been sorted in the local Post Office and will either be delivered today or tomorrow.
I have an all-day wedding to attend on Saturday sad smiley and a plant tour I have to host on Sunday, so much of the holiday weekend is shot.

On the positive side, it's only 10 days until we meet up with the group in St. Louis. smiling smiley

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a safe and relatively inexpensive storage facility to store my car for up to 4 months in the San Francisco area.

Alternatively, I guess I could leave the car in Reno instead.

If I can get everything organized I would like to come back in the fall and take the car down the PCH and on to Arizona.

Any ideas??

Thanks

John

They have some space for storage. If they're full, they may be able to recommend someone else.
