A few members of the CMGCC attended the August 23, 2014 Taber CornFest.
Three cars drove to Taber on Friday, Ardith, MGB, Mike, Mini ERA, and Henri et Nicole, TR8. The drive was a mix of dry and wet roads. Once in Taber, the weather was not encouraging for CornFest activities so we relaxed at our hotel.
Saturday morning, the day of the main CornFest event and car show, was wet and drizzly; after a good breakfast the four of us drove to the car wash, in the rain, to remove the previous day's road grime, then proceeded to the car show. Umbrella in hand, we walked to the registration desk where the organizers were still hopeful for drier weather.
A few hours later (yes!), the remainder of the CMGCC cars arrived, MGB GT, Cam and Jill, MGB V8, Bjorn, Morgan, Ken, TR6, Trevor, and TR8 of President Mike.
Although the show was smaller than usual, there was a great variety of quality cars of all types.
We all enjoyed the show and CornFest activities, and of course some Taber corn.
The show organizers acknowledged the CMGCC participation during the presentations and several members returned with door prizes.

Below is a photo of the 'not so dry' day with three of the cars and several members chatting in the background, behind a BIG pink !?!?.

After a drizzly Saturday at the Taber CornFest, Ken led a six car convoy to the Going to the Sun road, Montana, on our way to Whitefish; Ken, Morgan, Cam & Gill, MGB GT, Bjorn, MGB V8, President Mike, TR8, Trevor, TR6, Henri et Nicole, TR8.
The drive from Taber to Montana's Glacier National Park gate, at the east end of the Going to the Sun road was dry. As we started our drive on the Going to the Sun the sky was darker and soon the weather turned to drizzle. The road was wet most of the way and the construction zone was a good but muddy road.
The photo below shows the gray weather. In addition, being Sunday, the traffic was very heavy, so much that the parking lot at the interpretation centre was overflowing.
Overall, a great drive despite the lack of sun.
Once in Whitefish, Cam and Jill led us to a great Italian restaurant, Ciao Mambo.
After dinner, a few of us found our way to a car wash to remove the day's grime, and be ready for a drive in the sun on Monday.

Monday was SUNNY!
From Whitefish the group split in different directions.
Henri et Nicole had planned to aim south and drive the Lolo Pass, and others were returning to Canada.
Trevor, TR6, was also planning the drive south.
After wishing a good day and drive to the other four cars, the TR8 and TR6 headed south to Missoula, MT, then Lolo.
From Lolo we began our drive west across the pass on Hwy 12; This is a great road for our type of sports cars; great pavement, twisty, not too fast, not too slow, and best of all, it was sunny and no traffic; we pretty well had the road to ourselves.
A photo describes it all!
It was a long drive from Whitefish, MT, to Clarkston, WA, but a stop for an ice cream cone helped a lot; by the time we settled in and sat for dinner, the three of us were all smiles, especially after all this beautiful sunny weather!

Tuesday morning was the beginning of the return trip north towards Calgary on Hwy 95.
Hwy 95 is a combination of 4 lane Hwy, especially from Lewiston, ID / Clarkston, Wa, and a pleasant 2 lane country drive.
On the other hand, Trevor has traveled that Hwy several times and knew of the original Hwy 95, a narrow 2 lane, VERY twisty 10 mile road from the Snake River to the top of the hills north of the city.
Trevor took the lead and soon he was out of sight while we were driving at a pace to take in the breathtaking scenery.
We caught up to Trevor at the top of the hill and could not believe how much fun that short stretch was.
The photos show a few bits of the road and certainly do not render the full picture.
The remainder of the drive was warm and fun, through Coeur D'Alene, Sandpoint, for a lunch break, then across the border to Cranbrook.
Wednesday was another beautiful drive home to Calgary.

Thanks for sharing the trip with us Henri.
I see the beginnings of an article for the next " Crown Wheel and Opinion."
