It looks crusty but the insides look very good. It also came with the driveshafts, uprights, and front brakes. Not bad for $100 plus $20 in gas to pick it up! I posted more about it on my website here www.littlebritishcar.org

I got the block, head, crank, and rods off to the machine shop this week. I may be looking for a set of oversize pistons.

Hello Rick, "Been there got the t shirt" kind of a deal the deva bush crank is not the one to use. it will give you nothing but grief. leaks oil into the clutch and can only use the early coil spring clutch. in the end you will hate it. get a later diapham clutch flywheel and the later crank. It turns out that the crank is standard and not not the oil-fed type, which is very good news. I pick up the engine from the local machine shop tomorrow. They managed to get it magnafluxed and cleaned - in four months! I am going to have Seven Enterprises do all the machining. They are about 100 miles from me but my sister literally lives around the corner from them.

You can fit an 1100 engine but it has to be from a 1962 to 1964 (MK-2) Midget or 1964 to 1966 MK-III Austin Healey Sprite. You can also fit A 1275cc engine from a 1966 to 1974 MK-3 Midget or 1966 to 1971 MK-IV Sprite.

Although the Midget had an 1100cc engine during this period, the MG model that was identified as an "MG 1100" (the model we discuss on this side of the forum) was a different design altogether. It had a transverse (sideways) mounted engine and was front wheel drive.

The Italian models manufactured by Innocenti had them as standard but they were a dealer option otherwise.
