Hi Aaron

in the MGB forum its a 1971 MGB - pretty standard unless the PO screwed it up. if I'm posting in the 1100 & 1300 forum its a 1965 MG 1100

Keith, I've not only given it a bath, it's mostly in bits and pieces! It will be awhile before reassembly but the plan was always to do a complete rebuild.

Steve, that is indeed it's twin, but probably not forever. I just don't like black cars so I've been looking at various paint/interior combinations. Unfortunately, my opinion changes daily.

If the car came with any registrations from the previous owner showing those black plates, take the plates off, save them with the registration, tell your DMV they had no plates, as if you ever sell it, it can be registered back in California under those original plates as long as you have the registration to prove it. I checked. One of my old Fords I've had for 42 years had them, saved them and the registration....some day, the family is going to have to sell it off, and that's a plus!

I think we have tripplets. My 64 looks the same. Mine was stripped a bit too, getting ready to put a 1275 in it. I replaced the carpet and am having the seats redone. I was also unable to drive mine before the teardown since the old motor lost oil pressure as soon as I got it running. I hope to have it on the road by Spring.

The engine teardown on my 63 revealed bad main and rod bearings, and damaged journals. Even the cam bearings are ugly. There was odd looking damage on #3 and #4 pistons, too. The trans gears actually look OK, no broken teeth, but a rebuild is called for anyway.

Everything is on hold for awhile due to work requirements: we're in the middle of a major boiler overhaul and I'm the project manager!
