There's a cheaper one on Ebay Chassis No.3 - 29,995PDS.

Drove one of the cars when Wyles Hardy were selling off the last few but they wanted a lot more than that for them!!!

Looks too much like a Mustang from the side. Not fond of the tail lights, but nice interior, although the steering wheel's on the wrong side, lol.

Ron, I believe we've already discussed the "wheel on the other side" issues....winking smiley

I'd have one just to be different. Have to wait a few years and save my pennies (before they disappear).

IIRC, the 4.6 Ford engines were built by Sean Hyland, a good ol' Canadian lad.

I don't think that it looks much like a Mustang, but that's not such a bad thing.
It doesn't take long to realise that it is something altogether different.
When you listen to the videos on the site you will hear the engine.
WOOOOO-HOOOO! Does it ever sound agressive!cool smiley
The Top Gear clip shows that even Clarkson was impressed with the performance, and
he's famous for not liking MGs.

We'll have to see what Ron Neal thinks of the pricing. I believe he has one of these.

Hi guys
Now you are talking what I know a little about but am no expert by any means. Prices are a little strange. When MG first sold off their assets I think some cars were bought at a good price, then Wayles and Hardy had the rest and sold them off a few at a time, not to flood the market. There were still a few unfinished cars that were bought and completed by various firms.

About 82 cars were finished with a MGS&R VIN. Mr Riley bought up the spares and the rest of the cars in the pipeline but can not use a MG VIN or even call it a MG since the Chinese took him to court and he lost. Another story for another day.

The prices went down for a while and I think finally bottomed out last the year or so. The cars in question seem a little high but are still "new" so not sure what that value is worth. Some used ones will go for less. The more desirable SVR (Shaun Highland 5.0) are worth more. Most are rhd but also some in lhd for the Europe. If you are real lucky you might have one of the 4 supercharged cars. Quicker than all the rest. They were suppose to replace the SVR if kept in production.

Funny about the top geat show, most companies give them cars that have been tuned up. MG gave them one with a duff gearbox (no 3rd gear) as they changed out the gearbox the night before. The car was also not up to snuff in the hp dept but still showed well. It seems some of the SVR's were not all at the rated hp due to some engine production problems.

I am familiar with 103 which is for sale, a very nice car. I own a pre production and test car, also the first of the supercharged cars. Why I have it is another story too but I will tell you it came over to Roush in Detroit and never went back. Enough said.

I doubt you could get one into Canada and I know they are not allowed in the USA.

Bottom line, asking top dollar for the cars. Used will be cheaper. I am glad the prices are going up, makes mine more valuable. Being the only one in the US, even better.

BTW I eat Mustangs for breakfast, even new GT's and the Boss 302.

There is a loophole for getting "Historically Significant" cars into Canada which may be applicable with the right
references, Particularly if one of the Motor Show cars or the first or last SV was being imported.
It could possibly be argued that the last SV built by MGS&R could have been the last "British" MG built.
As a fallback there is always our 15 year rule.(2019sad smiley)
I suppose it could also be imported as a race car as well, although that would rule out it's being used on the road.
Sprints, Track days and revving the snot out of it in the garage!

I forgot about the historically sig possibility and the race car thing. Even that stuff is getting harder, still can do it but harder. The last British MG made might still the TF, not actually sure what they shut down first/last or when last car made/sold. I do know that the SV was the last British MG made in Italy.grinning smiley

Its hard to beleive that my car is almost 10 years old, still looks great. It also has a very rare set of CCW wheels that were comissioned for the supercharged cars. 295x45zr19 Michelin Pilot Sports on the rear. No spare as the tires are directional. Originally came with 18" OZ racing wheels.

Good luck. I feel I was very lucky to get this one but sometimes it is bittersweet. You always worry about some dork running into you. Parts are hard to get or virtually impossible, carbon fiber is not cheap. I had a cracked windscreen and found one of the last OEM windscreens on planet earth and it cost a few bob to get it shipped here. BTW the glass was made in Spain. Engine stuff is Ford so not an issue. Insurance is not cheap and no they dont really know what it is. After 10 years the car is obsolete and there is cheaper and faster stuff out there.

Good thing we are into obsolete cars!

Pity I can't afford one...not even a 1/3 share i'm afraid
so i'll have to settle for owning the fastest MGF in Mainland British Columbia!

I don't know, John. We have better winters and the ability to drive all year round. I think the car will do better on this coast. winking smiley

When 2018 rolls around, maybe I'll look at a 2003 model. I'll be 57 so just in time for that chapter of my life. smileys with beer

Ron, I know I've asked you before but memory is a terrible thing to......ahh crap........I forget...

How did you to bring your car in? The US has a "Speciality Vehicle" program, don't they? Are there limitations imposed by the Feds?

Without going into details my car came over to Roush in Detroit for testing, it seems MG sent a few cars over for testing. Most went back to the UK but some stayed. I could of never got the car in if I tried. Even if it came over as a race/speciality car you can not register it for the road. 2 year limit I think, I did some checking with the Govt in DC about a friend's Jaguar and found out the Feds are pretty car knowledgable and you can't BS them very much.

When MG went into administration one of the engineers at Rousch bought the car (I think all the cars already here were sold off) and I will stop there. I dont like to advertise that I have a car that is, well shall we say questionable.

I know it does not really answer the question and I am not going to. Some unforseen circumstances happened that made it possible to get this car. I keep it under the radar. The occasional car show and they dont have a clue what it is, its "gee that car has the steering wheel on the wrong side". It does get a lot of positive comments, most about the carbon fiber body and the Rousch stage 3 motor.

No problem, Ron. Just curious. Maybe one day we'll meet up and I'll get to see it.

Cheers

After reading my last few posts I dont want to sound like I am tooting my own horn, so I apologize if it sounded that way. It is just a car no more, no less. If we meet I will tell you the whole story.

It may be just a car, but Ron, It's a very special car!
I remember seeing it advertised for sale and thinking..."It's just one border too far!"

It's certainly not the only MGR refugee in the states. I have heard about several others
that are squirrled away.(no other SV's though)
