The following is a summary of the replies that follow:

Oil Filters
2002-2005 Freeland KV6 and the MGF share the same oil filter
Hengst H90W29
WIX 57241
Fram Oil Filter PH4952
Knecht-Mahle OC 237/1

Spark Plugs
Denso Iridium PK20PR-P8, stock # 3245
Champion RC8PYPB4
NGK Iridium IX BKR6EIX-11, stock # 3764

Battery
I did a little research into car batteries and on UK sites they list two sizes for the MGF: 212mm x 175mm x 175mm and 247mm x 175mm x 175mm. I was able to cross reference the larger one to the VW Beetle (all up to 1991), which is very close to a Group 90 battery's dimensions. This size also corresponds to an Interstate MT-42, which is very similar in size to the MPT-47 that Brad suggested.

Brad also found that the Volkswagen/Audi part number 000-915-105-DE-DSP is a perfect fit.

Rich has installed the Optima Red top (part#34-8002-002). This battery is big enough that the standard battery clamp will not fit but a TR7 battery clamp works nicely.

Wheel Studs
Freeland wheel studs, CLP9037L are the same size as the ones in a MGF, both M12x1.5, and the knurled portion is the same. The Freelander stud has a longer threaded portion.

Does anyone have any other parts that can be found locally?

Just had to put a battery in the white car.

Volkswagen/Audi part number 000-915-105-DE-DSP is a perfect fit.

I believe this is equivalent to Interstate MTP47 but it was more expensive & less readily available.

For those that want an overkill battery (800 cold cranking amps) I installed an Optima Red top (part#34-8002-002)
This battery is big enough that the standard battery clamp will not fit but a TR7 battery
clamp works nicely. Stainless versions are available for added bling!

With respect to oil filters that are compatible, here's a list of filters with numbers right off the back of a Wix filter box. I was given this filter at the Northant's monthly meeting

I see that WIX filter was made in Poland.
My last MG-Rover filter was also made in Poland.
Probably made for them by WIX.

That WIX filter took quite the route to make it to Corunna from Northampton by way of Aiktgate, Evesham, and Iceland. I think my MG Rover filter came from Poland.

I have noticed in some pictures of the cam belt auto tensioner that the MG Rover part says its made in Canada on the label.

I just bought a Bosch O2 sensor from England that was made in the USA.
I think the only ones making money are the shipping companies.

Good information, gents.

I am wondering about putting together an interchange database on my web site which might be easier to navigate?

I think one other issue we may be facing on this side of the pond for prospective F owners is the worry that they will not be able to get their car serviced easily. This question came up at Bronte as a matter of fact.

An interchange database available to all of us would be nice as far as I am concerned and certainly helpful to new owners.

In the past (mostly last year) I've been asked that question too. I've told people that there are many types of services that any garage you trust can perform you (but that the owner of the car will have to provide a part source or order them for the garage) if you do not feel comfortable doing the work yourself. The only complication comes to OBD. The new, or potential, owner needs to know that there are simple ODB scanners available for less than $200.

Agreed,
Mechanically the car is very straightforward. Even the dreaded head gasket failure isn't that difficult to deal with. Changing the timing belt was actually easier than doing the one on my Daughter's Ford Contour.
Like Mark said the diagnostics are a minor issue as is the Hydragas system, and the tools to service both are not expensive or difficult to use. The parts situation is good with most parts still being available new, and those that aren't are available used from E-Bay UK or one of the British suppliers.
The biggest issue potential owners have with the cars is right hand drive. As you know conversion is possible if involved, and LHD cars are available, but the bottom line is that RHD is not that hard to live with. After a year I haven't had any problems other than not being able to use drive-through cash machines!

More cash needed for more parts, Rich? winking smiley

I can't remember the last time I used any kind of drive-through. I'll crawl into Timmy's if I have to.

Love the thought of Drive Thru's, My son has the answer,
he drives through in his RHD classic mini in reverse.

In reply to # 2171352 by Rich in Vancouver I just bought a Bosch O2 sensor from England that was made in the USA.

What was the part number on the Bosch O2 sensor Rich? Can it be found locally?

Mark,
The Bosch part number is 0 258 003 229-760
It's made in the USA but I have no idea if it's available here.
I see that some companies in the UK sell them less plug and you
use crimps to swap your existing one over. Bosch may have a sensor
with the same values available here just needing a plug swap.
