Rich does have a point. I've got nothing going on with the cars so am redoing my garage into a proper hang-out.

One must always have a project on the go.

I sold a perfectly good BGT, that has really needed next to no work in the past 5 years, although it need a lot of work before that, to buy the F. So far only the clutch hydraulics. But the next BIG is going to be getting one of those locking nuts off that has been gone at with with a chisel. This is not going to be a fun project.

By locking nuts do you mean the wheel lug nuts??

If so, take a smaller socket , and drive it on with a hammer and you should get it off without too much problem!

Yup, I do mean the locking wheel nuts. A Mechanic tried to take a locking wheel nuts off with the air gun in the "ON" position. Of course the nut is really on now and the "key" is destroyed. The Mechanic tried getting it off with a socket, and those sockets you used on rounded heads. Neither worked. That's when the chisel came out. Fortunately I have a friend who owns a machine shop who is willing to help me get that nut off one way or another.

There are two other lock nuts that I have to get off. I have ordered another key from B&G but I am not hopeful because they are made out of soft metal. I will try hammering on another socket. If that doesn't work then I'll try welding a nut on. My last resort will be drilling out the stud. Actually, I'll stop by a tires shop and ask their advice before I attempt anything other than the replacement key.

Sigh. Let me remind everyone once again that a Metro is also a Modern MG.
