In reply to a post by pooch2 My whine is using firefox.
When I visit, I go thru all messages and open what I want to read in separate new tabs.
Every tab heading starts with the same words
MG Experience Forums: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Before,I could see each topic in tab headers, now all the same, can't see what is what.
Can you delete the MG Experience Forums: lead in on new tabs.

Sorry, I can't do that. Many search engines use the words in the title as the most important terms when indexing pages for sites, so I need that text there.

If you switch to Safari web browser, it automatically removes duplicate leading text from multiple tabs, just as you describe.

Don't know if it is a bug or not. When hovering over the thread title, all it says is new post. In a previously read post, it says nothing. In the past, I could see the first few lines of the post and remind me more of the content of the thread

Skye, I'm using Firefox 3.6.3. I'm having the same problem Greg is having - the smiley face images don't appear when I click "Insert smiley", just a list of text - and they don't seem to be pulling up the correct smiley when I click on the list.

Thanks again, though - I really love the new format!

Looks really good, Skye.

I'm with Pooch about using Firefox tabs, but that's the only thing I could find to whinge about.

provide a "print" option in the library that will won't print the web page (lots of extra junk) but will properly print the article and embedded images.

Skye,

Now the menu is listed down the side is it possible to have the Offtopic General and Political forums divided into two buttons.
I never enter the political forum but still have to click twice to get to the general forum.

Also is it possible (or desirable) to have the forum list names change colour if there are new posts in them.

Thanks for the upgrade.

Hi,
Only saw the old version of the site for a couple of weeks, but the new looks is much better. Great job!

I found a bug on the My Home Page page. Calendar event links are not using a full URL.

Here's an example: http://www./calendar.php#594

The update is great except for the bar on the left. When I'm accessing the site on my iPod I have to re-size every page to eliminate the bar to make the page more legible.

Is this supposed be a change as in improvement or just a change 'cause it's time for a change? Personally, I find it busier instead of an improvement.

I find the font size too small, even with the setting at the larger size. In fact there is little difference between the smaller and larger text size. Using IE8 and the zoom set at 100%, the default font looks like a size 8. My only solution is increasing the zoom to 125%, which results in a 10 font. I never had this problem until the new version. Any suggestions.

There's something screwy with your IE8 settings.

At the largest size (using the left sidebar control) it's absolutely gigantic on IE8 on my Windows PC.

Skye,
Nice job with the update, I dont mind the left margin menu at all.

I have two Suggestions:

Post Preview
Many of our posters don't write very descriptive Subject lines, and the default setting requires us to open many threads that turn out to be of no interest.

It took me a couple of reads through your first post to understand that "post preview" was the name of this very helpful feature.

Suggest it would be beneficial if the default setting for turning off post-preview is set to "No".

Posted Thread
Could we please have an icon similar to the "new message" or "read" icon to designate a thread in which we have made a post? That would make scanning for threads of interest much easier.

Many Thanks!

In reply to a post by blackmgb Thanks for continuing to invest in the forum Skye. Are you working on a mobile solution? I log in a lot via my blackberry and the new design is not allowing me to enter, because I can't see any of the links.

it works fine on my iPhone using safari.

I too dislike the sidebar, I likes being able to click on "MGB" or "Trader" etc. Both on the top and bottom rather than the left side.
Or, if it has to be kn the left, allowing the selections to "bounce" along with you as you scroll down the page would be great. My Realtor MLS software does this, so I know it's possible. It's very helpful when reading very long threads. Not having to scroll all the way or down is an advantage, assuming we have to have the left side taken up, that would be useful.

Great look!

Thanks Skye,

b

Lou, I'm having similar problems in IE8 and Firefox. According to Skye, it has something to do with Java. He says his is working on both browsers. But I installed the latest Javascript version for Firefox this evening, and "insert smileys" still isn't working correctly.

It's working in IE8, but it is not working in Firefox. I checked - Javascript is enabled in my Firefox, and I have the latest versions loaded.

EDIT!! Thanks Skye! Not sure what you did, but its working in Firefox now!!!! smiling bouncing smiley

EDIT AGAIN...WELL.... kind of. The icons pop up, but when you insert them into a post, they don't appear as you would think they would. This should be "bouncing smiley" - but its not - smiling bouncing smiley

I had this same problem earlier today using my Juno browser, which I thought was IE8..but maybe it's not. As soon as I went directly into IE8 the problem was solved.

Skye,
Just this morning, May 23, I came accross a large photo in a post and was not able to "slide to the right" to view the entire photo.
There is no slide bar at the bottom to do this. Only a top to bottom slide.
Is this "my computer" problem or other......? Windows XP here.
