Thanks for all your efforts in making the upgrade Skye!

One minor problem I've noticed is that pre-upgrade I could come back to the site day after day and not have to log in each time. Now, I pretty much have to log in every day. I do have the checkbox "stay logged in" checked.

I'm using IE7.

Thanks - Paul

I'm running XP pro. I'm attaching a composite of screen dumps which shows the "pls be patient message" (with no time .timeout or progress indicator) and have added the os and browser details. Thank you

Scot

It's kinda hard to see, but it looks like at the top of that Firefox page it says "Firefox automatically prevented this page from redirecting to another page".

That "other page" is the search results smiling smiley

You need to click that ALLOW button next to the warning and you'll get your search results.

Strange. In Windows' Control Panel -> Date & Time -> Internet Time
make sure "Automatically synchronize" is checked. And that your time zone and other settings are correct.

That might fix it.

Paul,

If you log into your home computer, and then log into your work computer, you will have to log into your home computer again the next time you are there. this is different since the upgrade. If you only use one computer and browser, you won't have this problem.

Tom

Tom - You may have hit the nail on the head. I do check out the site at lunchtime from work (or on my work laptop from home if my wife is on the home PC). I'll check that out.

if i get an email that i've got a pm and i click the link it takes me to the "sign in" page. so far so good. i put in my name and password and click the next link. from that point the "old" site would take me to the pm. the new site takes me back to my email. um. that can't be right. (IE8)

Skye - thanks so much for all that you do. The upgrades are good, although I have reached the age at which change is always a little disorienting for a while.

Probably a dumb question: In the Control Center, the "Edit Signature" page doesn't give any hint about how to insert a signature in the first place (which is necessary before I can edit it). Probably right in front of me...

Thanks again - I have some appreciation for what a PITA in can be to maintain a web site.

Not to sound glib, but don't you just click on the big white area under Signature: and start typing?

Not a problem but a question regarding the "sign off" and "log off" options. Are they the same?
To terminate my session does it matter which one is used?

Thanks , Pete.

Yup. That works. I figured it was something really simple. I guess I was confusing "signature" and "avatar" and was wondering how to get a picture in there.

Thanks.

Like the new look and functionality. One question. In the past, when you clicked on someone's avatar it enlarged. I found this handy for checking out cars and details.

Am I missing something?

Just click on their name instead (just to the right of their profile picture)

Cant even remember how the old colors looked. You have tweaked it to the point where I am actually liking it!

Couple things having now used it for a while - could the posters name be in a separate column? Many times it is easier to scan down the posters column for a recent thread than reading all the titles.

Also, I noticed in the PM that in order to post a response, you have to go to the bottom for the reply button. Could this button be shown at the top too, or is it even necessary to use the reply button? And...could the previous messages show the posting date/time?

Now we really are nit-picking. Just some more work for others!

Thanks again for staying on top of this Skye.

for the first few days I was able to read a post by simply hovering my mouse over it, but yesterday that stopped.

Will you be correcting that? I loved that feature (it REALLY speeds things up to be able to get the gist of things before bothering to open them).

I'm not sure exactly what its called but the feature that showed the first few text lines of a new topic if you hold your mouse over the bolded text of a subject seems to be not working any longer. Instead of showing the detail of what's in the first posting all is displays is 'new message' . I'm using firefox normally but does the same thing in IE8. Would be great to get this back as found it a hugely useful addition to the upgrade you just did.

Steve, it looks like you and I both missed the explanation by Skye just above us (and then by cfrench too)!

Hope it gets fixed soon. Good luck with all of your work Skye.

Preview-on-hover will be back, I have it turned off temporarily to track down some performance issues.
