Eliminating the Rattles

After a long rebuild process my C has been finally enjoying the open road. It has been a joy to drive but the rattle, squeaks and bumps are detracting a bit from the ride. I will of course go through the shop manual in depth but I wanted to see if anyone had a quick answer as to the location and type of lubrication that I should use to try to eliminate some of the noise. Its mostly coming from the front suspension and steering column.

Thanks!

Hans

Poly bushings with silicone grease. Sooner or later you'll need to upgrade as several positions are NLA for front suspension bushings. I can help and include an overdue control cable to boot...smoking smiley

Robert, that definitely tops my winter plans. I am hoping to get some miles on it this summer/fall though before! I guess until that point, just coat anything that rotates in wheel bearing grease?

Dino oil and grease will kill any old rubber bushings. If you wish use silicone grease...white pasty/clear brake stuff.

If you can grease the tie rod ends and the king pin....sometimes you have to get a gas axe to heat the KP to be sure you are flowing out the old and in the new. Virtually all LBCs have suffered over the years from lack of routine maintenance.
