All,
It has been a while since I have been able to post. Well after getting my car all completed and out on the street the car was back ended by a SUV and crushed my nicely refinished hood. So now I am looking for a replacement hood and of course Moss no longer carries them and the V8 crowd has been butchering all the ones left. Any one have or know of a hood so that I can keep the car original? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Rob

A fortuitous opportunity....I happen to have one that happens to be in Virginia. It is not perfect, it is used but it is priced accordingly. email me if there is interest.

Rob..let's be fair. The V8 crowd is not necessarily butchering the C bonnets, but have been attracted to their usefullness the past couple of years. I've only seen on example of a truly butchered C bonnet on a V8 conversion, where the radiator bulge had been cut out in front of the chrome strip. (It made me ill to see it.) Likewise, I've seen an increase in MGB owners using C bonnets on their cars.

I have been encouraging those with spare C bonnets to ONLY sell them to C-owners in need; I have been discouraging V6 and V8 owners from using factory C bonnets on their conversions as there are some REALLY nice aftermarket fiberglass RV8 bonnets now avalable.

Preform Resources of Michigan is planning on offering a proper C-bonnet in fiberglass. I spoke with owner Dave Craddock this past February about it.

I have a spare bonnet that has been sprung; there is a crease near the teardrop. Someone handy with aluminum reshaping may be able to brin it back to life.....if you are interested. (Contact me via PM).

I bought a VB bonnet at a sale...really cheap....but the chrome trim holes are about 1/2 in front of where they should be.

I, too, have a used alloy bonnet that is in much worse shape than Rick's. Will take a panel beater well experienced in working with aluminum, and some TIG welding, to bring it back into usable shape. Free to anyone that can use it on a C and is willing to pick it up.

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked the holes on the hood I sourced from VB. Not really a problem in my case.

Well, we're working on it, just a little busy right now with finishing up the Sebring body kit.
The "C" hood won't be done til end of June, but will use the same inner panel and metal inserts as our other hoods
and will bolt right on. Stay tuned.
