Any interest in Lakeland, FL British Car Club? #1

There are good clubs in St. Pete and Orlando - both are an hour away. There are no existing clubs specific to British cars in Lakeland, which is right in the middle.

I'd like a club that can occasionally join these others for an activity, maybe do some community work in the area, help each other with maintenance items, and go on area rides for food and fellowship. Lakeland also hosts the Lake Mirror Classic, a regional car show which draws from all over the Southeast in October.

Please PM me if you're in the area and wish to help start this fellowship.

You would likely get a MUCH better response if you posted this in the MGB side of the forum.

There aren't all that many of us over here on the MGC side...

Thanks...I did...and all the other forums, too. Sorry to spam, but I thought it's be the best way to get a response from the cross section of models.

I live in Lakeland and I have a 1977 MGB. I think it would be great to have a club here in Lakeland!!!

If you don't get much local support you might consider a satellite to one of the other clubs nearby. The British Motoring Club of New Orleans has been successful with 3 or 4.

You can go their newsletter on their website and see how they report meetings and events.

Keep working on the Lakeland angle, but make sure to get hooked up with the Wheels Across The Pond crew http://www.wheelsacrossthepond.com/ (Some pics of the last show - http://www.flickr.com/photos/37404956@N05/sets/72157633360138787/ ). They're centered in Jupiter, but have fun activities from time to time up and down the coast (use the "Contact" link and say you'd like to be informed about Cars & Coffe, Rallies etc. if they're going on up your way). PM me if anything outstanding's going on. I'm game for a good drive anywhere between Atlanta and Key West if it sounds like there's fun to be had.

The Colorado Springs, CO MG owners had the same issue with our parent club, MG Car Club, Rocky Mountains Center, located 50-60 miles north in Denver. While many of us make the drive for meetings and events, some Colorado Springs guys created a venue that brought us all together in town. I am a member of a very active LBC club here in Weeki Wachee at the end of hwy 50 junction with 19. There are probably 50 cars that regularly turn out and I think we are closer to you than Orlando or St Pete. Let me know if you want more info
