Door trim on my C is dinged up pretty bad.

Are replacements available ?

Given a source, what are the steps to remove and replace ?

Thanks,
Chuck

I took mine off when I painted my car, but that was a few decades ago. No clips or anything like a domestic, just studs that pass through the body panels to nuts on the other side, so the trick becomes figuring out how to get to each of those nuts through the interior panels, inside of the trunk etc.

As far as replacements go, everyone carries them, Moss, Vicky Brit etc. I've got a few that could use replacement as well. Since they *all* look perfect in the catalogs, I'm interested in what sort of feedback you get, as poor quality stainless shows as such in pretty quick order. I'd rather have my originals with the occasional dings than aftermarket strips that are showing rust.

Anybody hace molding that they're particularly happy with?

Hi Chuck!
I recently removed them from the GTS project - its a UK import but would think the US one are no different? - it was easy and like Scott said a couple of nuts at each end of the trim that slide along the crimp and then rivet buttons along the length of it which by bending the trim slightly through its axis, will pop off leaving the riveted button in place - when I put the new ones on the roadster I had to rivet the buttons back on and gingerly slide the trim down the length of the door - If you position the sliding nuts through the holes first then push the trim on over the riveted button you must be careful not to flatten the strip. Easy does it! smoking smiley

Chuck,
I bought replacements sourced from the top 2 suppliers, and was very disappointed in the quality of them.
Even though they had the factory part numbers on them, they were not as original.
The gage of the metal is lighter than original, and they have ripples down the length of them from the forming process they use.
You are better off to tap out any dents in the originals, and polish back to new.
I was able to source perfect new ones (possibly N.O.S.) from McGregor in Canada last year, but they were very expensive,
and shipping was slow and pricey to the US. But to me it was well worth it.

This has been a problem for a number of years.
