I'm having trouble generating some clean code in order to place text over pictures. Is there any experts here who wouldn't mind helping me through this? I sure would appreciate it.

CSS is web programing . Cascading Style Sheets. More powerful than plain HTML it allows you to do more and cleaner. Its also hard to learn. I'm a designer so the creative part I get easier. The other brain side is the problem - such as coding.

Thanks Saul. I'll check it out. Are you a web coder?

most recent "decent" web creation packages include CSS capabilities in a point and click environment.

I use Net Objects Fusion and it supports CSS as does FrontPage 2003 (FP is being discontinued by MS). I've not used CSS because I've found no compelling reason to do so.

CSS is like using style sheets or paragraph tags in Word or PageMaker or the like.

I am not a web developer. if you want to do that sort of thing right, you use XML and it's relatives. CSS is kindergarten stuff compared to that<G>

I use dreamweaver. CSS is actually much better than you think. Its really developed beyond where it started. All programer use CSS combined with XML and other dynamic code that I know of. DW does CSS but only in the simplified way you state.

Gary - what are you looking to do? I get pretty creative with CSS code. And, Dreamweaver has a ton of it already built in.

Email me or PM me, we'll get you going!

Yup...I've been in web development since around 1996. Moved into management a few years back but still do *some* coding...most of my stuff is in Cold Fusion.

Saul. Just went to your site. You're doing something I need to learn. Nicely done, btw. Very tasteful. Did you design it?

I think that link will help a lot. I'm going to try it in the morning.

Actually that site is just a photo site I signed up for...I had a site of my own that I had done but I took it down a couple years ago. I changed the template was about all! I've been using smugmug to post photos for the past couple years and been really happy with them. They allow me to upload full res photos (as many as I want)...so I actually use it as a backup of what is on my computer here so in case the computer dies and backups here are no good I can just order a backup DVD from them. No coding needed with them.

Wish I could take credit for it but I can't in this case!
