If anyone here lives in NM, and wants to tell me a bit about your area, please post your thoughts or send me a PM. i'm mostly curious of how your B likes the place...

Thanks,

Jon, I don't remember the name but there used to be amember in Carlsbad, NM who is in to Moto Guzzi motor cycles.

New Mexico is very different in different areas and I've seen most of it. What area do you have in mind?

Outside Albuquerque somewhere. i picked Stanley, NM on the map as a potential just because its my dad's name. I'd like to be 30 or 40 miles away from the city...somewhere with immediately nearby fun roads would be nice.

I haven't been in that particular area except just passing through. I know it gets colder than a witches tit in Albuquerque and the wind blows like hell at times, but Stanley is on the other side of the mountains from there. Should be some fun roads nearby if not right there and the weather shouldn't be too wet hardly ever.

Jon, like John, I've only driven through there, but I know Albuquerque is in a flat area, but there are hills and mountains and several cool roads in the near vicinity. Check it out on Google Earth, it'll give you a feel for the topography.

I was in Farmington last semester. I'd say head north to the Colorado border. Durango and Silverton, CO were my favorite parts of NM! It's about 3 hours north of you, though. Go up and spend the night. Great place, good food, good music, fantastic scenery.

Hi Jon
I am in Colorado and have driven through N.M. many times - actually got pulled over in the Middle of Nowhere New Mexico by the only state trooper in a 600 mile radius for doing 100 in my 78 B (hotter cam, alloy head etc.) When he came up to the window all he said was 'damn, I didn't realize these old British cars could scoot so fast'.

There is a strong British Car club in Albuquerque - www.baoa.org
We participate in each others events. They are a fun bunch with some really nice cars. Also I believe the president or past president of the NAMGBA register lives in New Mexico
I think that you will find that driving a LBC on the backroads of N.M and Colorado cannot be beat!

I hate to say that is what I thought he was asking. I thought they had all left to head north by now!
