I hate plumbing!!!! #1

AAAARRRRGGGG.....saturday night a pipe breaks under the kitchen floor...no crawlspace, it's on a slab. Had to tear out my base cabinets, jackhammer up the slab, and find the leak. Took today off to do it and thought that I was finished at about 2 o'clock....yippee!!! Turn on the water a little.....no leak!! a little more....no leak from where I made my repair.....but now one somewhere between the kitchen and laundry room.......I think that I could probably chew through the rest of the slab.....

Luckily the new leak is in the hot water feed....so at least we now can flush toilets and such.

Thank God for my B though.....It's amazing what a 15-20 drive can do for your spirits!!!

Oh well back to busting concrete.....

The hubby hates plumbing work so bad that he calls people he doesn't like "plumbers". They don't understand our little joke---opps until now smiling smiley

"1964 MGB" (Kirby) All original pull handle MGB, 3 main, with overdrive, but a daily driver with all the dents and dings to prove it -- Titled in 1965~~

"1980 MGB" (Robbie) Even though it's a RB it does have overdrive, a Weber Carb, and is my favorite MGB. We have logged thousands of happy miles together ~~

to me plumbing is not too bad compared with painting and woodwork,alse oi would rather rebuild an engine than do body work of any kind including waxing

Digging is FAR worse then any other job. Try trenching 19" deep through volcanic rock and dirt in 90º weather. sad smiley

I've been there Andrew....same type of soil down here as you have in Bend....I grew up thinking that a sledge hammer was a tool that everyone used when digging a ditch....

I'm plumbing at the moment too, installing a new radiator in the kitchen, messing with 80 year old iron pipe is not fun, it takes a 30" pipe wrench to get it apart!

My stuffs about 60 yrs old but the plumber that put it in was nice enough to put everything really close together,some of it is even laying over each other.......don't have enough room between hot and cold to work on one without messing with the other.....enough to drive me crazy..

I'd rather do ANYTHING around the house over plumbing. The screwed joints always leak when I think I'm finished. Sweated joints are fine (actually fun to me), it hose danged screwed connections.

Compression fittings are the worst, I can never get the suckers to seal first time!

Finally got the thing fixed and after some hard thinking I think that the wife and I are going to pretty up this house and put it on the market.....we have never really liked this house and we are looking at putting a manufactured home on a lot with (my favorite part) a shop for me. I would prefer to build a house but that would be cost prohibitive.

Hope it all works out.....I would rather do improvements to a newer property than chase problems in an old one.
