Female! Isn't she just gorgeous! Here's a couple more pics.

Found her under a piece of iron I'd left on the ground a few years ago and was almost rusted away. Two metres from the corner of the house.

Chris, and I love my overdrive!

Slick spiders around here are bad-ass, how about that one? Most of our hairy ones are not dangerous to humans unless there er some aggressive tarantulas I don't know about.

Very toxic venom and very aggressive. Will not run from a fight!

Father in law was bitten before the antivenin - late '70's, trod on it working bare foot in the garden using a rotary hoe. Had some serious symptoms but the suggestion was the spider had recently bitten something else and didn't have much left in the tank.

Cool pic of it reared back, I know of a gent who was nailed twice by brown recluse, I would rather get hit by that one and fade to black, thanks!

Got biten by a baby Funnel Web when I was 15. Sick as a dog for a week or so, but I survived and the spider didn't - size 7 took care of it, but left enough to ID at the hospital.

They are aggressive. the male is deadlier than the female (a rarity in the animal kingdom)and a re pretty widesp[read. If I recall (dependiong on whose list you look at) they are either #1 or #2 deadliest spider.
