We're predicted to be @ 105F today. Death Valley, CA is predicted to hit 125F. Let's all meet there for a cold drink, 4:30pm should be the ideal time.

When I got back from my ride at 0930 this morning, it was already over 85F. I have some outside projects that I need to do. I think I'll wait 'til it is above 95 to start. smiling smiley

I lived in Barstow for a few years-worked for an air conditioning company. Since I was 6 feet tall and 120pounds, I was the one who got sent into the attics to put in the ducting. ("Duerr, you're skinny, go drag this duct to the corner of the attic.) THAT is why I went to college. smiling smiley

Back in the day,(think Jimmy Carter) the union hall had 120 guys on the list and I had
a young hungry family, so I went to work for a local Pest control company. The trucks
had giant 3D black widow spiders on the sides so it was all good! It only took me
a little while to figure out that crawling through attics in Santa Paula or
Santa Ynez killing termites or flea infested sub-areas was not my dream job.lol
It motivated me to get my licence and I ended up building a couple buildings for
my former employers in Watsonville for my first job. We did always try to get the skinny
guy to crawl the sub-areas though!winking smiley

Furnace Creek. 4:30PM. Can't make it, too late even if I leave now.

Lets give it a week to see if it warms up some.

And I can relate to the attic work. Ran some phone wires in an attic in Vegas. It was only about 108F, but we were in four feet of insulation! The place was right next to the airport, so they were out to cut noise as well as heat.

Thought I was going to croak!

77 MGB - Four tone paint - some kind of electronic ignition - hood props - cheap tires - new springs all around - mixture of poly and rubber bushings - original exhaust - fuzzy seatcovers - stereo out of old F150 pickup - virtually no rust - right front wrecked and semi well repaired - just about right for me!

78 MGB - Done right by a good PO, and I only bought it. Tell Jim how nice it is. But I did put in a Datsun 5 speed.

79/65 MGB - Tubby - Carmine Red - V-6 - T-5
Going to do this one more right, less rat rod!

Lived in Victorville, California for a a little over a year while hubby was on a team to close down a military base there. Wow it was HOT ! Big Bear though, just a few miles away, was comfortable all Summer but like it's name it was a bear in the Winter smiling smiley

"1964 MGB" (Kirby) All original pull handle MGB, 3 main, with overdrive, but a daily driver with all the dents and dings to prove it -- Titled in 1965~~

"1980 MGB" (Robbie) Even though it's a RB it does have overdrive, a Weber Carb, and is my favorite MGB. We have logged thousands of happy miles together ~~

"Now the problem you have is that when you have the unerring certainty of machinery, it is a machine. When something has foibles, it won’t handle properly, that gives it a particularly human quality because it makes mistakes. And that’s how you can build a relationship with a car that other people won’t get."

We only hit 101. But, ours included 20% humidity. (I know, 20% is nothing to those in the mid-west and south.)

Well, I'm disapointed, it only got to 119F in Death Valley.

The pool was 86 this afternoon, which was also the high air temperature today. High 80s forecast the next 10 days here, except Sunday which is supposed to be 82. Lows in the high 50s.

We're retreating from the century mark, but why no bike riding at 88? I passed a couple - male and female - out biking the other day here when it was 95°F at 11:30am and humid as a steam room. I couldn't help but think, "Damnned fools!"

Jack, I was really referring to Steves riding, although if you asked my wife a born and bred Santa Barbarian about
riding in "88 degree heat", she would laugh at you! Anything over 80 is considered taxing in SB. Luckily it only
reached about 79 yesterday so we dodged a bullet.smileys with beer I'm glad you all are finally getting a brake from the heat.
That's one thing I don't miss about the East coast.
