Breakfast on me!

Yesterday's Waffle House breakfast was delicious. Eggs over easy, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns w/ onions,
toast and milk.
Then the wife and I dropped by Hap's.
After a few minutes we started out to the shop and I never made it.
Sudden pain in stomach and loss of focus.
I was going down. Got back to the office chair with wife's assistance.
Head in lap, loosened belt, un-snapped the jeans. Cold wet towel on neck.
Took a sip of Vitawater and next thing I know.....WTH....I came to with breakfast on me.
That, my friends, is some freaky trip.
Lost conscience for several minutes according to Hap and wife.
Just spewed breakfast and ...according to Hap...turned white. He picked up a piece of paper and said
"This was your face when you were out!"
Went all Zombie...white and drooling vomit.
I feel lucky to be alive.
Thank God I returned to the world in time to stop Hap who was on the phone to 911.
WHEW! I got Cadillac insurance but that trip would have cost some serious dough.
15 minutes later I'm in the car headed home. Tired from arguing with the wife and Hap about the hospital.
Man....I feel bad for them. Their faces when I came to is something I'll never forget. Hap called it freaky. Wife was dang near in shock.
Family doctor saw me in the afternoon. By then I'd eaten a Hoagie sub and some orzo.

ALL test results, blood work etc. were remarkably normal but excellent.
Best guess from smarter people than me : Food poisoned.
No more eggs over easy for me. I'm still weak but every second feels like improvement from the last one.
Amazing that I can still feel the empty this created. I can't stop eating and drinking.
Glad I got a few days off.
Thank you God. Thank you Lynn and Hap!

Wife says she'll never forget the look on my face either.

So, Waffle House is off the list.

Glad you're ok, David. That's some scary stuff, right there!!

Sounds like you need to consult a dietitian who may be able to provide some advice on what good food you could be eating.

There's a new BoJangles not too far from Hap's place - on North Pleasantburg near Cherrydale. I'd suggest the country ham biscuit and large sweet tea for breakfast next time you're in the area...

David if you visit NYC you'll see they post the results of inspections of resturants posted on the establisments front windows. Those inspectors come in un- announced and look at everything. Im glad your feeling better

There is no inspector who can tell if a runny egg has your number.
No more Russian Roulette for me.
Scrambled or nothing from now on.
I was poisoned at a Wendy's back in the 70s. Almost this bad and it got the wife as well.
We both wound up passed out.
We don't eat at Wendy's to this day. A ratings or not. Waffle House got an A too.
Sucks this was my favorite Waffle House. Sigh....maybe if I live to be a 100
I'll try it again. If I can work up to eat at Wendy's first as a trial run,
that is.

I always heard that food poisoning takes longer than that. Like the next day.

What do I know? I eat my own cooking, and am still alive (after a fashion).

Glad you made it. But I think I'd see the family doctor.

77 MGB - Four tone paint - some kind of electronic ignition - hood props - cheap tires - new springs all around - mixture of poly and rubber bushings - original exhaust - fuzzy seatcovers - stereo out of old F150 pickup - virtually no rust - right front wrecked and semi well repaired - just about right for me!

78 MGB - Done right by a good PO, and I only bought it. Tell Jim how nice it is. But I did put in a Datsun 5 speed.

79/65 MGB - Tubby - Carmine Red - V-6 - T-5
Going to do this one more right, less rat rod!

David as i said im glad your feeling better. What you said is true but when was the last time you bought a dozen fresh eggs kept them stored at the proper temp,at some point cooked a few and got food poisening? Inspectors while not a gurantee look for things like pershiable foods stored at the correct temp. You got sick for a reason it could have been a fluke thing or it could have been carelessness with the foods served

Food poisoning can take varying amounts of time to make itself known. The fastest I've experiened was a bad oyster, 15 minutes and tucking into my main course came over all funny and regurgitated 150% of the contents of my gut. Fortunately I made the bathroom in time. Was well enough to eat dessert later.

David, I'm glad you are feeling better, you scared the crap out of Lynn, and myself.

Ok now that you're ok, I guess we can joke about it, buddy if you had needed mouth to mouth, Lynn and I were going to have to flip coins for that duty, maybe even the best out of 5, and the winner would have gotten off the hook grinning smiley

Doc said it was probably food poisoning. I guessed the same. I'm fine now.
Like I said the tests revealed "all systems go and functioning properly".
I'd hate to even guess how many eggs I've eaten over my 60 years and
prior to this I've had no incident.
I'd guess the eggs had sat out at room temp too long and then I do like them
over easy.
The wife and I once got poisoned at a Wendy's back in the 70s. So bad we
both passed out.
To this day we will not eat at a Wendy's.
Sucks that this episode was at my favorite breakfast spot. Waffle House is now
dead to me. I doubt I'll ever enter one again. Shudder just at the thought.
Same for fried eggs. NEVER again. It will probably take some time before I
can even eat an egg of any sort.
Makes me queasy just thinking of eggs right now.

I've had food poisoning episodes twice and both times I was barfing within a half hour. First time was Wendy's - maybe a trend going here. smiling smiley Second time was what used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Steak Ranchero through your nose is not fun.

Maybe I'm lucky or maybe I just have a cast iron stomach because I've never gotten sick from solids.

Liquids yes, but that had nothing to do with the booze being bad.
