He had a great career and represented a different era of film and TV well. I wonder how Ron Howard took the news.

Hubby's favorite show and I know he has every line memorized. I, too, loved every character on the show. Mayberry Days will be very sad this year. RIP Andy

"1964 MGB" (Kirby) All original pull handle MGB, 3 main, with overdrive, but a daily driver with all the dents and dings to prove it -- Titled in 1965~~

"1980 MGB" (Robbie) Even though it's a RB it does have overdrive, a Weber Carb, and is my favorite MGB. We have logged thousands of happy miles together ~~

Sorry to see him go - his show helped define 1960's Americana. I enjoyed visiting Mt. Airy on my way to Dillard last month.

The play “No Time for Sergeants” was turned into a movie and Griffith reprised his role of Air Force recruit Will Stockdale, a naive rustic plucked from the Georgia backwoods.

“I think that I would rather live in the rottenest pigsty in Tennessee or Alabama than the fanciest mansion in all of Georgia,” says a needling major played by James Millhollin. “How about that?”

Griffith, as the drawling Will Stockdale: “Well, sir. I think where you wanna live is your business.”

Hubby said to me last night "I'm betting all the Baby Boomers can name more characters from the Andy Griffin Show than any other show in their lifetime" . Would you agree smiling smiley

I think your hubby is right.

For the past few years, we have been vacationing on the Outer Banks, and each year we made a day trip to Manteo, on Roanoke Island, hoping to catch a glance of Andy. We never did, and now I am the sadder for that. We did drive past what we thought was his residence, and we did see his boat launch on a sail we took in the bay, but no Andy himself.

I still watch re-runs of that show.

Andy Griffith was a roll model for me and I feel like I lost a relative. As a "latchkey kid" I learned much more about life by watching The Andy Griffith Show than I ever learned from my parents. Although it was a comedy, every single show was a lesson in how to live by the golden rule (treat others the way you want to be treated.) When I think about kids growing up watching Jersey Shore and The Kardouchians, I feel sorry for us all.

x1000!!!! Nothing on TV that I have seen in years, except Andy's reruns, is decent enough for kids to watch...
