...more pops and crackles than a bowel of rice crispys...will last the rest of the day if I am lucky....seems like someone would invent a device that really worked...other than the chop shop method that invariably fails.....this is a universal problem...

Arms, legs, each tied to a different horse - horses gallop off in 4 different directions - problem solved. You'll feel great.

Wyatt, I'm going to a Chiropractor and I think I'm worse now than I was before going. I have a pinched nerve at the base of my neck and it tingles all the time. I have to get up from this computer because of the way I sit here and that makes it worse. Damn ole age!!~

If ya think their methods are barbaric, go to to your proctologist. Let him tickle your spine. In the mean time quit trying to carry your boat from the house to the lake. We all know ya can do it. Ya don't have ta prove it know mores.

Maybe yer back can't take packing around your big Johnson anymore. Reminds me of a stuttering joke... But I digress.smoking smiley

I agree

I've been down the road with Chiropractors. About 8 years ago my back really went haywire. If the disc in my 5th lumbar wasn't already herniated, I really think the bone cruncher did it in.

I came back from that with Physical Therapy and exercise. No surgery just pain pills and a cane got me through the initial treatment . Lost weight, went to the Gym a lot and felt great. However old habits can return. I've recently started back with some of the simpler exercises and alread feel a difference in the mornings.

I don't know about the 30yo though. I suspect I would have more problems than a bad back if Laurie found out.eye popping smiley

Chiros are useless.

Invest in quality office chair with lumbar support, multiple adjustments, etc. Weight-loss, stretching, and exercise goes a long way.

Also, a "thera-cane" is a great tool for pressure points to relieve pain as you can use it by yourself.

Most aging people find it a lot easier to complain about being in pain than to do what it takes to be completely healthy. Not to sound like a hippie vegan or anything, but exercise works wonders as does diet and water and good sleep. If you can't walk or run or lift weights, you can stretch, do your own version of yoga, or swim or whatever you like. If you do, you'll lose most of the aches and pains. If it's easier to not do it, like most people, you get to complain a lot. I'm in that age range, and I do both -- complain and try to exercise a lot. Let me tell you about my aching knees . . . . I'd just work up a simple routine of stretching and yoga-like exercise (meaning non impact) plus a little weight lifting (small stuff more for the stretching), walking, swimming . . . . A couple of weeks and you're a new man.

...drew, again, common sense from you, and I agree. Here is the difference....I am a one man 63 yr old band with a slight case of scoliosis, that I have learned to worl around. I just put two 140 pound Evinrudes in the back of my lifted 4x4,Friday loaded 8 sheets of chip poard plus attendant lumber from the store to the cottage by my self, loaded a 1982 Honda express moped in the same truck...VERY HEAVY and baulky.....moved a 1098 midget engine two feet to the south to get it out of the way of mt garage door(it's for sale)...yada yada yada...every day and or week...took down 8 trees and parts of trees last Nov thru May.....put in a 70 foot aluminum/steel dock with my bro in law in early April, he is 61...20x3 ft sections...anyway you get the picture....so it's not lethargy thats causing my back troubles...it's the 5 hours I spent bent sideways wheeling out the Century again yesterday, I have fat lazy friends,I ain't one of them, but I am slowing down at a rapid pace...........smoking smiley

the Century, at 10 o:clock PM ready for the lake today...

Actually Wyatt, you and I are not that far apart on physical exertion (and only 1 year in age), except you've got scoliosis and my hip is so shot, if I was a horse I'd a been put down years ago.

What Drew is getting at is something I've just heard a bit about recently, and that is suppleness. Not much we can do for the bones but all the muscle amd attendant tissue can be exercised in non stressful activities such as yoga Tai Chi Qi Gong (none of which I'm doing yet) all in search of a relaxed lithe muscular frame.

Now when I've got time, and I get down off the ladder where I'm shingling at the moment, I'll report back if my back's not too sore.

btw get the shot and the shingles will take care of themselves...
