MG TD twin carbies

Hello fellow members,
I recently installed a new throttle kit from Moss Motors. Followed the instructuions to the letter & all seemed good until I encountered a long steep hill. The motor seemed to die & almost cut out before reaching the crest. I made it to the top however & had no trouble for the rest of the journey. Could that problem have been fuel starvation?

"Could that problem have been fuel starvation?"

Could be. Remove the fuel line from the pump to the rear carb and direct it into a container marked at the 1 pint level. Turn the ignition on and time how long it takes to pump 1 pint - should be about 1 minute. If it takes much longer than a minute to pump 1 pint, there is either a clog between the tank and the pump, or the pump is in need of some attention. Attach a flexible line to the inlet of the pump and stick the other end into a can of fuel (or mineral spirits) and rerun the test. If it still takes longer than a minute to pump a pint, then the pump is definitely in need of help. Contact Tony Oliver revilo@tpg.com.au or go to his web site at http://users.tpg.com.au/revilo/ for SU fuel pump rebuild. Cheers - Dave

Thank you very much Dave for your response to my fuel problem. I will implement it shortly & hopefully achieve a positive result. Cheers David Williams (Jazzwell)
