Finally got the TA finished today, went for a short shakedown run and found a slight weep from the oil filter feed and another from a radiator hose. Both sorted and it's ready for the road.

All I have to do now is take the lead out of my right foot for a few hundred miles. grinning smiley

Take the time to understand what a part does and how it does it, then you'll have a better understanding of how to fix it when it goes wrong. Beats the scattergun approach every time.

Good to hear indeed! Numbum rides again. Glad it was not a long time off the road. I'd say you have a short driving season over there, but you and Numbum don't seem to pay much attention to the seasons thing.

Thanks guys.

This is the longest the car has been inoperable since I had the engine rebuilt 10 years ago, Although it's not used every day, it's always been available if wanted and I missed that.

Dave. Thankfully it was only changing the crank or it would have been a lot longer.

BobbyG. Seasons don't mean much, but since I bought the B GT, I've got soft and used that more in the colder months. I'm contemplating some heated seat covers for Numbum, cos it's much more fun to drive, apart from when it's really cold. That's probably an age thing though. Me, not the car.

Bob. The car may have recovered, but it will take me a while to get back to what passes for normal these days. grinning smiley

Jim. OK you were right. smileys with beer

The running in starts today. Off out to what you guys would call cars & coffee? Meet up with a bunch of old codgers and talk cars, drink coffee & eat cake. A nice 50 mile round trip.

Owen, if you are running the same cam, pistons and rings, do the new bearings require running in? After a few turns, they should be about where they will be from here on out, except for normal wear. I should think you can drive him normally.

Dave, you could be right.

The friend who helped me prime the oil pump advised doing couple of hundred easy miles. His exact word were 'Don't go reving the bollocks off it for a couple of hundred miles, As he's bigger than me......grinning smiley

On a more serious note I don't want to be pulling this engine again so I'll err on the side of caution. It won't take long to do a couple of hundred miles, then normal service will be resumed.
