Chassis number question

When I purchased my project Td from the estate it came with a parts car whose chassis has basically rotted in the ground. The executor gave me a bill of sale with numbers that matched the I.D. plates she had in an envelope. Now I found that those plates must have been from the parts car since they don't match the dumb iron number. The correct number seems to be TDC 11553. Would anyone have an approximate build date or any info on that number? The engine also had no tag so is there a way to determine that number?

Louis, normally I would have directed you to this site. Usually gives you the build date and the engine number it left the factory with.

http://www.tregister.org/recall_page.php?req_page=records_home

However when I enter the number you gave it shows no record. I'd suggest that you join the MG Enthusiast web site. It's free and it is THE place to get your questions answered for all things TD. If you post your question there you will have a lot better chance of getting the info you are seeking.

I went to the registry site and entered TD/C11553 and got the following info:

Chassis No. TD/C11553
Original Engine No. XPAG/TD2/LHX11319
Build Date 09-Nov-1951
Notes TD/C11553 EXLNA

That will be a big help. Thanks

Might email Tom Lange in Maine. He has additional info on the TD/C or MKII cars. http://mgtrepair.net/index.html

x2. If you are looking to be a stickler for originality Tom will be able to tell you to the last detail what your TD Mark II should and shouldn't have. He is the guru!

By the way, thanks for adding your car's details (and a photo) to the T-Database at www.ttypes.org !
