Engine number question

1937 MG TA
I have just bought a 1937 MG TA with engine brass tag
on the bell housing # ( 27673 XPJM1 ) The engine is
clearly ( spark plugs and water pump ) not an original
engine. It seems to be an XPAK engine but how can I
determine its real number so I can order correct parts?
Thanks
Larry

The XPJM (without the 1) was a 1140CC engine used in the 1938-48 Morris 10/4. There was also a XPJM/U that was used in the Morris 10/4 Utility. The proper engine for the TA was the 1292 XPJG. There was never a XPAK engine - you might be thinking of the XPAG engines used in the TB through the early TF.
