I have recently found a 1972 model with air conditioning. Can someone tell me the history of air conditioning on MGBs... what year was it first available, etc. Where can I find some information on this topic.

Your post is in the motorsport forum, and would get a lot more views if posted in the MGB forum. I don't know too many air conditioned race cars.

Vintage Air, www.vintageair.com sells and has sold for some time A/C for all sorts of cars including MGs. I have A/c in my 79 B. I can respond to any questions to my e-mail address.

Dan,

There's was no "factory A/C" ever fot the "B"'s. They were all dealer installed. However , the later cars had a factory approved kit available from British Leyland.

My '71 B-GT has still has onr of the dealer A/C kits on it, and it was still working through the summer last year here in Memphis. I changed out the old York "210" compressor for a much smaller and more effecient Sanden compressor. VintageAir sold me the compressor as well as a York to Sanden mounting adapter.
