Hello guys i have a unused reground cam given to me. It is a pin drive for a 1275 a series. The number stamped on the end reads SCL m 486. I was thinking of using this cam for an engine I would like to rev to 6500-7000 in the lemons race car. Does anyone recognize this number for brand or specs? Thanks in advance.

Aaron, if it is a pin drive camshaft, then it's probably for a 948, or 1098 engine, not a 1275, te 1275 cams come in tow different flavors, as for oil pump drive style, star drive and slot drive. I often use slot drive in my street rebuilds, my street cam supplier gets A+ cams fork the UK which were all slot drive style, and the only other thing neededis the slot drive oil pump to mtch the cam. if the cam is reground, I would not use, unless it had been hardened, nitrited for that matter.

If memory serves me correctly, there was a Cooper S pin drive oil pump years ago, but no one has made this oil pump in over 20 years, even the new pin drive oil pumps do not fit the inline 948s, and 1098 engines properly, they don't clear the oil pump covers.

Thanks, yes i got the oil pump situation worked out by broaching a keyway into the star section of the oil pump and pressing in a pin drive shaft from a small bore. Worked out pretty good. But i am still wondering if anyone recongnized the number of this cam?

Sorry I can't help with the cam number, do you now anything about it's lift, duration, and such? I had a few cams profiled over the years, Isky, or Delta would be close to you, which you can do for the most part with the cam in a engine with degree wheel yourself, but it probably easier and cheaper to get one fo them to profile for you, probably cost $25-30.
