Congrats to Fred on his overall win this weekend at Nelson thumbs up

Next event Charlotte Motor Speedway, close enough for the Southern crew to make that event, I'll get my tire gauge and lounge chair ready smiling smiley

Ok, so I'm a hypocrite. I was giving Hap grief behind the scenes to quit promoting me telling him they get it, I'm having a good season.

However, I was pretty excited and do not have many people to share it with, but I just learned that this past weekend I reset the track record at Charlotte. David Bryson had the record with a 1:24:1 and I lowered it on Saturday with a 1:23 and then again on Sunday with a 1:22:9.

I've asked the race chair to confirm for me, but I have the official results and Hap saw the time sheets though none of us knew what the record was at the time.

I beat the lap record at the Watkins NASCAR course this year, but the guy behind me did too and actually ran a lap a tenth or two faster than me.

So, this weekend I won twice, clinched the MARRS FP Championship and nabbed a track record.

Ok, so I'll quit bragging, but it is all in good spirits. I was pretty excited and for those of you who have been a part of the multi-year journey you will get it.

Hey! It ain't bragging if you do it! (and apparently you did!)

Congrats Fred. Outstanding season

You might be a racer if;
You consider the redline as a "conservative suggestion" and the rev limiter a "fun limiter".

Fred, I had started to research that a bit yesterday, but could not find the track record online anywhere, I knew that 1.22 was a really fast time, but had no idea what the record actually was. That's big time impressive man, I'm really proud of you thumbs up you have alot to be proud of this season, and hopefully next year will give you a even more test, you are ready for the move my man, more than ready. I think Jim in the STU Lotus was blown away by your abilty to stay in his mirrors with his superior HP and high dollar car. It was funny in impound, he got out the car and looked like he had been put thru the ringer, red in the face, soaking wet and looked like he had saw a ghost, you got out of the car, pulled you helmet off, and your hair wasn't even messed up with a big grin on your face, that was priceless buddy smiling smiley

Hey maybe since you cannot make the ARRC, maybe the Prod Fest at VIR, and challenge David to come as well, and you two play together, that might be the best tune up one could ask for, in prep for next year. I can already taste those brats and cheddar in the fall of 2013 smiling smiley

Thanks everyone.

Hap, car goes to Topeka as soon as I can get it there after the runoffs for next year's prep. By Labor Day I will have more than doubled my entire racing resume completing 13 races, a dyno day and four test days. Ive had my fill for the year.

I've also got a lot of business travel scheduled too for the rest of the year and I want to get Matthew's kart ready so he can get out on the dirt oval before the end of the year.

Tom, I'd really like to get the lap record at my home track of Summit Point. I'm .8 seconds off of it right now. Next year's engine could get me that alone without any driver improvement. Weather will have to cooperate too, because it's normally spring time when the temps are low enough and that record falls.

Dave, Road America is the plan now. In fact I just booked a plane ticket for Milwaukee so I can attend this year's races on Saturday and Sunday. I figured I should see the runoffs for myself this year, so I'm not completely blind next year. It won't be the full experience, but at least I'll meet my competitors and friends, watch the race, see the prep in action, etc.

It is Sunday afternoon. The EP race is Saturday and the HP is Sunday morning. I had to schedule a late flight out Sunday, so I wouldnt miss any of them. Arrive home around 1 a.m. sad smiley

Edit added: I have never been to the runoffs ever. In fact I've only been to one national race weekend in recent memory and I was driving a SM in it.
