Fred:

I used Intercity to transport my supercharged MG TC from CT down to Raleigh (another story another time). They were great. I was very impressed with how carefully they handled the car.

I would use them again in a heartbeat.

With Monterey behinds us we finally have time to attend to the #9 car. Hap did a great job in the restoration but as many of you know, car care afterwards was taken elsewhere and sadly it shows. We pulled the motor to find the entire clutch unit and flywheel completely useless. (no fault of Haps) So overheated that the flywheel is warped... Lots of basic pre race prep most likely had not been attended to sense the departure from Haps shop. So, we feel we need to go through the entire car to ensure proper safety for all. Engine on dyno this week, parts ordered and should have teh #9 ready for a test in September. Joe Huffaker will be my guest driver for the CSRG Charity Challenge in October.

Thank you and kudos to Hap on the restoration... Joe, Ed and Jim all have said you did a great job.

Well compliments coming from guys truely mean something. I tried my best to bring Joe up to date on what I know. So that why the car was so hard to start, I had to fiddle with the starter to get it to crank the last time I worked the car, but Eddie didn't want me to get as involved as pulling the engine to checking it all out. The stuff I told Joe about the repalcing the bellhousing and engine back plate need to for sure be done. Well busy on my end crating spares, my my expert carpenter buddy is building one nice multi level crate, we should start packing all the stuff ff today. The Jougbloeds are getting dismounted and I should be able to pick them up this morning, the young fellas at my old tire dealership got kick out of seeing that stuff and could not believe how light they were, they all ask a million questions about road racing, they all wanted to know can you race Miata, and I told yes can definately road race a Miata smiling smiley

Glad to see the #9 Huffaker MGB has found an extremely well qualified owner (both on the track and off)! The legacy will continue!

I need to plan to get to CA sometime to see it on the track! Maybe Monterey next year?

(Still kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance and the budget... and I've had a chance at 2 of them, not counting Risk Estes' car).

Well, a 4'x5'x 4' custom made two tier pallet is sitting here wating to be picked up by truck this afternoon headed to Joe's for Scott. It was three day project, sorting thru all the stuff was neat and confusing, amazing how many silly things had been held on in the spares over the year, used bearings, used valves, normal nuts and bolt, but used and dirty, unmarkked camshaft with a wiped out lobes, rusty brake drums. bent push rods. But there was plent of good stuff, so it will be like Christmans for you Scott thumbs up Tell Joe and crew to have their drills ready with screw bits.

Worked at Huffakers yesterday on the #9 B. The existing motor was dyno tuned... all new ignition and distributor. Leakdown was minimal so will run it as is at the CSRG November race. All graphics removed as well. I have a number of original photos to work from to be sure size, color fonts and placement is correct.

Went through the crate that Hap so kindly put together as well. Now the work begins as we pull each diff and gearboxes apart for rebuilds. Hopefully the block is good... heads cant be used for a Huffaker build but hopefully one of them will match the head thats on the current motor. All spares are stamped (S) with tags with my name and car #.

Update.... we pulled the motor that came in the car and is now a reliable spare after a bit of R&R. We discovered a rather large crack in the spare block so I will be picking up another motor (hopefully) next week to begin the new motor build.

14 inch wheels - most of you know, 14 inch wheels were a size built mostly in the 70s and all tire manufactures have stopped making slicks at that size. Yes we could run bia-plys but we have the go-ahead to run slicks after all thats the way the car ran in its day. Another small hurdle but we have a fix in mind. #9 is stripped down to a roller so we can freshen up exterior and interior paint, rewire, etc. Gearbox R&R, suspension adjustments, etc in progress. Car will be complete by the end of December for early Jan testing.

After pulling the entire car apart, repaint, plating and crack testing, the reassembly begins. New cell, brake lines, wire harness, aluminum hood and Huffaker motor. Thanks to Hap this process has been very painless. Test in 3 weeks.

Thanks Fred! thumbs up Old school EP. Now the tire war begins. So far 2 of the 3 groups I run with are requiring Hoosier Street TDs. I'm pushing for the Hoosier R6. Any experience with these?

Joe has designed and now producing MGB oil pans similar to his Spridget pans greatly reducing the depth of the pan and increasing capacity. Final prototype below.
