Check with Tom Brenza (fast white Mini Cooper) from SWMS. He was discussing a source for solid copper head gaskets while we assessing the carnage that occured inside my engine at Aroyo Seco earlier this year.

I've got a whole sleeve of factory all-copper gaskets for the 1622. Call or PM and we'll make a deal :-) Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams@yahoo.com

The #3 Con rod bearing ended up somewhere it shouldn't have. The end result after I naively hoped it was just the head gasket, we cranked over the engine while the head was off and the #3 cylinder was not moving.

Ugh! I'm very nervous about moving away from my ultra reliable stock unit.

That's the trouble with those pesky con-rods. They simply won't stay where you put them. drinking smiley

Anyway good luck on the rebuild

You might be a racer if;
You consider the redline as a "conservative suggestion" and the rev limiter a "fun limiter".
