1967 MG MGB "The Biscuit"
I ended up with this car almost 2 years ago from Tony's estate, and at the time, I thought I would eventually finish the car and race it, but when the deal came about to get Fred's MGB roadster race car, that was already highly developed, competitive and race ready, so needless to say the Barnhill GT got put on the back burner, and has sat in my home garage since I got it from Tony. It's bascily a painted roller with alot of new suspension and brake pieces on it, a nice sold piece, Tony did put new floorboards in the car, so metal wise it ready, it has a nicely done roll cage, fuel cell, aluminum race seat, race harness, some wirng has been done, more will need to be done to finish it. New reverse eye leaf springs and lwoering block under the rear, has rebuilt shocks all the way around.

We rolled out of the garage and washed it real good last night, she looks good, and tonight I plan on takng a bunch of pictures of it,and having them ready and loaded on the computer by Friday, and at that time I post them here, then I plan on putting it on Ebay come Sunday for 7 day run, I going to have extremely low reserve on this car, you can bascily buy for the price of the roll cage, and all the really hard wark to the tub is done, so it's incredible head start and someone could get the car ready for vintage, NASA, SCCA, track days trick autocross car for not alot of money.

I'm also going to offer someone who buys the car, the opportunity for me to get the car finished if that interest them. I'll have more pictures and post them here soon. Fred Thomas and myself had thoughts of making this into a hillclimb car, for the new Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb in our area, but truth be told, he needs to finish his SCCA HP Sprite race car and I need to focus on the race car I already have now, so it's time for this car to be focus of someone new.

More details in the next couple of days.

Hap, why not drag it down to the Mitty. Maybe someone would see it and buy it on the spot.

Dave, it will sell on Ebay pretty easy I think, and I don't have to drag it anywhere smiling smiley I have pictures and details up by tommorow. I like Ebay when I got something I want to sell and know it will sell for what I wanted for it, meaning it's a good deal vs, people telling me they'll think about it, or get back to me, Ebay creates urgency, and for what I want for this car, it should sell there no problem, maybe even get more than I want. I think I'm going to start the bidding off at $1000, and I'm sure it will get to where I want.

here's what I know

1968 MGB GT race car project rolling chassi Tony Barnhill.
Fully painted, 15" Saab wheels, new ploy buhsing through out, Tony has completely rebuilt the fornt suspension, with new caliper, slotted drilled rotor, new bearing, bushings, negative control arms, new brake line, soem wiring has been doen, Kirket aluminum seatr and Safequip 5 way hardness, D ring fuel cell, i guessing about 10 gallon, Sebring headlight cover, painted to match bot color, the fornt stock appearing fenders are fiberglass, as is the rear hatch. The roll gage is well built and up to SCCA specs. Tony put new floorboards in the car, and it solid, no rust area that I can find, and the car has been apinted for say 45 years and no paint is bubbling under the new paint. I not crazy about the paint color, it MG Citron, but it very decnetly done, the painted checker flag roof is piece of art work, it paint not vinyl and I thought was very weel done, I palnned on repaitiong the car ,b ecause I'm crazy about citron, but was going to kepp the checkered flag roof. It has tube axle housing uinder the car now, just used one we bought t pout under there, actually we bought this car for the headley Hybrid rear end it did have and thats in Fred Sr.'s car now, so we put the tube axle unit under it keep it a roller

I don't need this project, and it time for it to go, so It's going on Ebay Sunday, if anyone has just gotta have before rthen I want $1500 firm for it and feel like that is steal for this, so if itgrabs you, call me, it's going to leave here soon.

Hap,
This roller is a steal at $1500.....Tony put a lot of, at the time well documented, work into the car. This will make a fine GT race car for someone.

....just sayin'

He was going to put a Camaro V6 in it and do the Grassroots Motorsport challenge.

It looks good. Would be neat to see it finished.

I got the 1800 motor mounts brackets for it, Tony had very carefully dicected them off the frame rails, and later he then decided he wanted to go the vintage route with this car, anyway, he had laid the motor mounts in the race seat with the car, which was luck, they could have been sat down anywhere in his huge shop, but luckily they were lying right there. It would be easy to weld them back on, he had even skinned the paint on where they were to go. You would just bolt a engine and tranny together, with the motor mounts and brackets, lower the engine in the car, bolt the tranny crossmember, so the mount brackets are located, tack weld them in palce, then remove the engine and tranny, so not hard to put them back in.

Forget the original motor mounts. GTs don't run at the front of the pack with four bangers, but with a V8 you can run with the big dogs!

Sold, Tim Suddard just bought it, and say he plans on going vintage with the car, with his son driving it, and possibly doing article of how young folks can get into vintage racing on a budget.

I can not think of better destination for this car to end up at, and to continue what Tony had in mind for the car, I'm absoulutely thrilled Tim ended up with the car, and look forward to seeing what they do with it, and reading about it in the pages of Classic Motorsports magazine.

I'm sure Tony would approve.

Yep, who knows where this story will go, it should be interesting. I think Tim's goal is really budget minded with this car, is going to be a way to show a younger person how they could choose vintage racing over say, NASA, or SCCA, and have fun, good clean racing and not break the bank doing it.

I think it's a great concept, when you look at classes like Spec Miata, they started out to be cheap racing, aimed at a attracting a younger market, but to win in this class is big money and resourses, and these cars get destroyed at an alarming rate, that's got to look like a scary motorsports choice to a young person on tight budget, and vintage racing could provide a budget choice that would insure a fun, yet more friendly racing enviroment.
