Just got official word that your idea of using lightweight driving lights for headlights instead of heavy MGB headlight buckets is okay...now, we've gotta find a round pair - cheap - that we can mount in front of the recessed grille!

"Be careful what you ask for - you might just get it!"

What are we gonna do for the MG headlight holes though. They aren't every areodynamic either. We coudl do some fiberglass work and close them up and streamline them with the body?

Tony, we could make the fenders look like the Coune Berlinette but without the headlights.

Adam and Tony, one good idea is to purchase the clear plastic "sebring" headlight covers, do a little trimming, spray the inside of the cover with the body color, and install. They really help with the aerodynamics, but even more important, they look "kick butt"..here is an example

I was actually thinking of something cheeper and more areodynamic.

Sure can Tony....I will put some pics together in the next couple of days and send them to you....I have an original set of clear covers and will send the comparison between the two and where to cut...although it is not really neccesary to do any cutting (slow and painstaking) if you paint the entire inside of the cover...James Madsen in Minnesota did another neat variation of this theme on his cool V6 B and I think I have some pics of his set up too...

Why not just paint the outside? I'm not planning on ever putting headlights insde there!

Oh, stock headlight assemblies are 2-3/4 pounds each!

Yea, you could do that...but cosmetically it looks a little better if you paint the inside (as in glossy) Try it on the inside first and if not satisfied paint the outside...hey every little bit of weight you take away helps...my 3.1L gt was the lightest car at the grand rapids 2002 V8/V6 convention...weighed in at 2160 lbs...

Congratulations Tony! Perhaps you will share some of the things you did to achieve that weight reduction with the group...my car is still pretty much a street car and not really for straight out racing....I liked the way your engine looks in the car....good luck and keep us informed!

I bet he ends up with about a 1600-1700 lb. car. He's got most of the weight reduction stuff on his website.
