I got my '61 Sprite into the air today. The balance is off -- I've got the mounts too low on the car -- and the rotisserie still needs work, but it's progress.

Be careful and don't let it overpower you. My roteressie needs two people to turn it. It can get out of balance in a hurry!

Hey, you just gave me a thought, after I remove the car from the rotisserie I can use it to barbecue a side of beef!

Hey... I've got a 61 Sprite but mine's a Bugeye. I wonder what month they swapped over?

I'm going to need to get mine on a spit soon so please post your balance point once you have it sussed.

Adrian

Pinkyponk, I would suspect the balance point on a Bugeye is wholly different than that of a redesigned square front Sprite. The rears are different, no trunk opening, more/less metal in the rear wheel arches, etc.

Adrian, per Terry Horler's Original Sprite & Midget the last complete Bugeye assembled at Abingdon was in November 1960. Yours is a "61" because back then a car was titled as the year it sold at a dealership, not by the date it was produced.

Chuck this has been covered ad infinitum before. http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?3,2706007

BMH have a really easy to navigate website, and a staff of humans who actually will contact you if there are questions. If you don't need a crisp, printed and framed certificate you can ask them to simply email you the pertinent information. Which is FREE!
