HI,

I removed my wiper motor on ,my 65 midget to paint that side of my engine compartment. . I bought new wiper-motor grommets and I tried tp install them. I saw references to heat and lubricant/soap to get the grommets through the hole, neither worked. My heating technique was to boil the part in water, I think that made the grommet more stiff.

I was successful by trimming away some of the bottom side of the grommet to make it easier to fir through the hole. It seemed to be snug fit, but I'd really like to get the part installed with out modifying the grommet

Any thoughts? Would "using heat" mean a butane torch to soften the rubber?

If you put the cut side to the inside you will be the only one to know. We didn't see or hear a thing!

try a dab of dishwashing soap and massage the grommet into the hole!
