I'm not sure I see what the big deal is with this product, except on earlier cars with the "metal cup." Isn't this just a standard looking leather/vinyl boot just as the factory did for your year Midget?

I purchased one from one of our members that makes them about 4 years ago. Still in great condition. Wish I could remember who it was.

Perhaps it was Y. Lee. Here is the link: http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?3,3215300

Todd,
Unfortunately, none of those links shows the domed rubber boot which was under the vinyl shifter boot on the late model MGs. Mine ('74) came with it, but I've never seen a source for a new one.

I suspect it was added as a noise / heat reducer in the cabin (block more than the vinyl could). It also acts as a support for the vinyl.

Probably have to search scrap yards for one.

Some will say they don't know what you are talking about, or that they never came with it. But if you keep looking you may eventually find one.

Never seen the domed thingy on any of my 1974s, but there was a hard plastic thing below that used to help the factory boot keep its shape. Looks like it is NLA from Moss UK as well as the usual suspects on this side of the pond.
