1500 Midget/1500 Spit Oil Pump

Greetings,

Got to the point where I was installing the oil pump in my 1500 Midget engine, but the drive shaft for the pump won't go into the bushing.

I don't remember if the pump is from the Spit engine I used to have, so it may be. Is this part not interchangeable between the two engines?

I'm not sure if I should source a different pump or ream the bushing out to make this one fit.

If the Spit engine was a 1300 they may not be interchangeable.

Hi Rick,

It's definitely from a 1500. Maybe the wrong combination of machining tolerances...

My notes say they are indeed the same pump for the late 1300 spit to 1500 spit engine FM59898E when the pick up became angled. Most folks with the early pump opt for the angle pick up. You are correct, if it was a new pump it should have included the proper bushing. Want a new one?

Thank you Robert- I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something!

I will try to open up the diameter of the bush and make this one work. If something goes terribly wrong I will in fact order one.

Sending you an email with a couple other things I need though smileys with beer
