79 midget gear box

Hey guys can I use synthetic 90 weight oil in the gearbox and rear end.

Depends on what transmission you have. A-series smoothcase and ribcase transmssions use 20W50 motor oil. The Triumph trans used with the 1500 engine uses 90W gear oil. Synthetic 90W gear oil in the diff is fine.

To answer the original question. The book advises 90w oil but 20w50 is so close to the same thickness it works in the 1500 trannies too. That is all I have run in my 1500 tranny and rear end from the day I got it, over 100k and still no issues. But the 90w oil will be fine.
