What's the trick to adjust the emergency brake on a '79? The adjustment nut in the tunnel seems to be put on with fingers when threads were brand new not filled with decades of debris. Turn the entire cable housing after cleaning the threads as best as one can?

I can address properly your issue but the default is, normally, one either uses it daily or forgets it. This is a mechanical device that requires both daily usage and constant maintenance. If one or the other is not employed, a locked rear brake is the usual result.

I use it at times, but it needs adjusting. Just trying to get advice on how to do it.
